Game #1 – Sons of Pitches vs. Carroll’s Jewelers

Pitches get rolling with four runs right out of the gate. CJ Motts grabs them the first run of the year on a RBI single and Jon Duchette and Justin Ruth add RBI singles in the inning. Carroll’s respond with four runs of their own in the bottom of the inning, getting started by a Greg Lesher sac fly. Bill Shipe also added a two-run triple in the inning. Pitches grab a two-run lead in the third after a Duchette RBI double and Jill Beck RBI hit. Both teams go back and fourth taking the lead and giving it back until we hit the last inning. Pitches lead 15-12 after getting an insurance run from CJ Motts. Carroll’s get a couple baserunners on and turn the lineup over with two outs. John Zeits and Sarah Yoos both hit RBI singles bringing them to within one run. Lesher plays hero and hits a walkoff two run single as Carroll’s wins in dramatic fashion on opening day. Carroll’s win 16-15.

Game #2 – Roos vs Carroll’s Jewelers

Carroll’s look to extend their success from game one into game two, but come out looking sluggish, not able to push any runs across for the first three innings. Roos put up five runs in that span. Randy Brymer and Selina Alicea hit RBI singles and Jeremy Villano hits a two run single. Roos have another big inning in the fourth getting a bases clearing double from Brymer and padding their lead to 9-0. Carroll’s finally get on board in the fourth from a Bill Shipe RBI triple. They grab two more runs in the fifth, but still trail big at 9-3. Carroll’s get the big inning they are looking for in the fifth pushing across five runs. Bart and Shipe hit back to back RBI doubles and Mike Stacey had a two run single. They bring the game to within one run. Roos add an insurance run and it ends up holding up. Carroll’s cannot push any runs across and fall in this one. Roos win 10-8.
