Week 1 at the Quarry

Game #1 –Sons of Pitches vs. Wackers

Pitches get an early start in this game as they jump out to a 7-0 lead in the top of the first. CJ Motts started the scoring with a two run single. Pete Edgar had a bases clearing triple and Carol Motts and Justin Ruth had RBI singles in the inning as well. Wackers get one back on a Mike Kelly triple and then an error. The second inning brings more runs for Pitches as Jon Motts smashes a solo bomb and Edgar knocks in two more runs with a two run triple, his second triple in as many innings. Pitches go crazy in the third with a ten run inning and blow this game open to 20-1. Carl Motts had a bases clearing triple and Edgar again had two more RBI’s in the inning. Wackers grab some runs late from a Kelly bases clearing triple, but it is not enough as Pitches dominate in this one. Sons of Pitches win 22-5.

Game #2 – Bry Lex vs. LA Pools

Bry Lex starts this one off with five runs in the first. Cody Miller starts the scoring with a RBI single and Lindsay Tuscano pushes another across for them later in the inning. Pools get one of them back with a Ray Patano sac fly. Pools get four runs in the second with a Darcy Rabenda RBI single and Peter Naticchione two run double to pull them to within one run heading to the third. Both teams score int the fourth with Bry Lex getting five runs and Pools getting two. Lowell Snyder had a two run triple for Bry Lex and Greg Rielly had a two run double for Pools. Bry Lex bumbs their lead up to 16-9 after grabbing three runs in the top of the seventh. Shawn Pfleger started it with a two run double and Miller followed it up with a RBI double a batter later. Pools show some fight left and score two runs on a Patano RBI double and Greg Lavin sac fly, but that is all they can push across. Bry Lex wins 16-11.

Game#3 – Andy’s vs. Demons

The third game bring us a rematch of the spring championship. Andy’s start the scoring getting six runs in the top of the inning. RJ Grant and Ron Pulli had RBI singles and Danielle Buzin and Kris Smedley had RBI walks. Jon Poore and Nick Mancini help get them back in the bottom of the inning with RBI hits bring the game to 6-2. Both teams grab two runs in the second and no runs in the third to keep this a four run game. Pulli gets another run for Andy’s with a sac fly in the top of the fourth, but that is answered by a Jarred Gardner RBI double in the bottom of the inning with our different still at four. Andy’s grab five runs in the top of the fifth to make it a 14-5 game with RBI doubles from Mike Koz and Ron Pulli and RBI singles from RJ Grant and Warren Grant. Demons respond in a big way with seven runs of their own to get within two runs. Gardner started the scoring with a two run single followed by back to back singles from Nick Mancini and Katie O’Toole as well as a RBI double from Alex Elmore. Gardners smashes a solo home run an inning later to keep Demons within two, but that is the closest they will get as they fall in this opener. Andy’s win 15-13.

Game #4 – Sharks vs. Carrolls

The last game of the night starts off with four RBI singles from Mike Zahrdinack, Bob McClintock, Kelly Gallagher and Terry Leach giving Carrolls a 5-0 lead after one. Defense shuts down the second inning and third inning until Carrolls steps to the plate. Carrolls send fifteen batters to the plate in the inning and push tens runs across breaking their lead open to fifteen. Kysten Marinelli, McClintock, Leach and Zeits had RBI singles and Greg Lesher had a RBI double in the inning. Sharks continue to struggle at the plate and can’t push any across in the fourth. Steve GioVanni and Danielle Buzin push acorss two more runs with a RBI triple and RBI single respectfully as they end this one early due to mercy rule. Carrolls win 18-3.
