Week 2 at the Quarry

Game #1 –Carrolls vs. Andy’s
Carrolls get on the board first in this one with a John Ziets sac fly. Any’s match in the bottom of the inning with an Adam Lightkep sac fly. Neither team pushes any runs across in the second inning. Andy’s break open a huge lead after a big third inning in which they bat around and send 15 batters to the plate. Anthony Crawford started it with a RBI double followed by a two run single from Lightkep. A couple batters later RJ Grant smashed a two run triple. Warren Grant, Jay Pane and Brittany Ulman also pitched in with RBI singles in the inning. Carrolls string together a couple of runs in the fourth with a Greg Lesher sac fly and Joslyn Tomlson RBI single, but Andy’s keep their lead up with a Mike Koz RBI single and Warren Grant RBI single. Crawford hits an RBI single later in the game to seal this one up. Andy’s win 13-5.

Game #2 – Roos vs. LA Pools
Pools grab two runs in the bottom of the first to take the early 2-0 lead. Greg Lavin and Krissy Bartiynski had RBI singles for the Pools. Defense shuts down the second inning as both teams can’t push any runners across. Roos tie the game up in the top of the third with a couple errors and a Gary Ehly sac fly. We sit at 2-2 after four innings as the pitching and defensive plays really take hold of this one. RBI singles from Ehly, Angie Wehlau and Eileen Fillion give Roos the lead as they break the tie momentarily. Pools answer immediately with three runs on a Lavin RBI triple, Mike Cianfichi RBI double and Bartynski RBI single. Roos erupt for six runs in the sixth to break this game open to 11-5. Doug Farrar had a big two run triple as well as Fillion smashing an RBI double. Pools put together a big inning of their own and grab seven runs in the bottom of the inning. Cianfichi, Steeber and Larry Wagner had RBI’s in the inning helping their big comeback. Roos go down in order in the seventh and come up short in this one. Pools win 12-11.

Game#3 – Dugout Demons vs. Sharks
Demons open up a big lead after one with a five run first inning. Nick Mancini starts it with a RBI single followed by a RBI double from Jon Poore. John Erb scores two more with a two run homer run. Neither team scores in the second inning, a trend that has been continuing all night. Joe Tillman gets Demons another run in the third with a RBI single. Demons get RBI singles from Steve Berry, Mancini, Poore and Erb to extend their lead to 10-1. Demons really break this game open in the sixth and end up ending this one early. Jenn Sevitski had a three run homer and Poore smashed a two run bomb. Katie O’Toole, Berry, Mancini and Tillman all had RBI’s in the inning as Demons win this one easy. Demons win 24-4.

Game #4 –Sons of Pitches vs. Sharks
Sharks take the early lead in the bottom of the second with a Jeff Pierce RBI single and Tom Finn sac fly. Pitches respond in the second with a RBI single from Jon Motts, RBI walk from Justin Ruth and RBI hit from John Kelly. Sharks get three back of their own in the bottom of the inning with a RBI single from Karen K and Glen Hipple RBI double. Back and forth we go in this one as both teams continue to hit every inning. The only action in the fourth is a solo bomb from Dan Geyer. Pitches take the lead in the fifth after scoring five runs. Carl Motts had a big two run triple in the inning as well as a two run single in the fifth to keep Pitches in it. Sharks get five runs in the fifth with RBI hits from Bill M and Karen K. Pitches go to the top of the sixth and take the lead and hold a one run lead heading to the last inning. Sharks go down and fall by a run in this one. Pitches win 16-15.
