Week 3 at the Quarry

Game #1 –Carrolls Jewelers vs. Sharks

Carrolls jump out early in this one with five runs out of the gate. Mike Zhardinack and Kelly Gallagher had RBI singles in the inning as well as a bases clearing triple from Bill Shipe. RBI singles helps answer for Sharks as both Ed Doyle and Tom Finn knock in runs with them. Kevin Shinkunas gets into the action with a bases clearing triple for Carrolls in top of the second to help push Carrolls lead up to 10-3. Doyle answers again for Sharks as they get one run back. Carroll’s go back to their hitting in the fourth as they push another five runs across. John Zeits had a RBI triple and Shinkunas, Zhardinack, Shipe and Gallagher had RBI singles. Game #2 – Andy’s vs. Bry Lex

Andy’s jump out in this game right out of the gate. Ron Pulli started the scoring with an RBI single and that was followed by RBI singles from Jay Cybock, Danielle Buzin and Chris Hesdon. Bry Lex gets one back on a Shawn Pfleger fielder’s choice. Andy’s grab a couple more runs over the next couple of innings to give us a 7-1 game after three innings of play. Pulli would start up the top of the fourth with a RBI double followed by a Warren Grant RBI single a couple of batters later. Colin Donohoe gives Bry Lex one more run to keep the deficit at 7. Runs show to be hard to come by and defense really shuts down the next couple innings as either team can only grab a couple each. We head to the bottom of the seventh with Andy’s holding a 12-4 lead, but that is how it would end. After starting the inning with back to back singles from Pfleger and Cody Miller, Bry Lex can’t get anything going. Andy’s win 12-4.

Pools bats around in the bottom of the third to come all the way back and tie the game. Ray Patano highlights the inning with a three run homer as well as a Darcy Rabenda two run double. Pfleger knocks Bry Lex ahead in the fourth to give Bry Lex the lead again. Pools come right back in the bottom of the inning with three runs to take a 10-8 lead. Neither team would score in the fifth inning send us to the sixth in a tight game late. Patano smashes another homer in the bottom of the sixth to open Pools lead out to 13-8. Rich Reinhimer keeps the home run trend going for Pools as he smashes a two run bomb of his own in the second, but again Demons respond fast. Demons end this one early in the fifth with another six runs to really put this game out of reach. Erb had a two run bomb and Poore had a solo homer in the inning to help the cause. Demons win 25-6.
