Tuesday Men’s Summer Season Opener!

Game One: Beers v. Mike’s Bar & Grill

Mike’s kick off their summer season with a short-handed team and not much of an offense. John Biando doubled and scored in the 3rd and Joe Talarco homered in the 7th (Solo Shot). This was all of Mike’s run-producing offense.

Beers’ on the other hand exploded offensively. Josh Goldberg capped a 5-run first with a 2-run homer, Matt Kane capped a 4-run 3rd with a 2-run triple, Alex Goldberg singled home 2 runs in the 5th and Kane later capped a 9-run 7th with a 2-run double. Ryan Maley and Rich Acierrio both homered in the game. Beers win 24-2.

Game Two: Da Bears v. Team Horsham

Da Beras managed to push three men across the board in the 1st. Sean Valenza doubled home two and Adam Ceneviva singled home the other. Issue is, Da Bears managed just 3 more hits the rest of the way.

Team Horsham needed just Austin Anderson. Austin had himself a 3-3 night which included a double, 2 home runs, 4 runs scored and 6 rbi. In the 6th, Horsham up 6-3…Austin’s grand slam gave them all the security they would need. Horsham winners 10-3.

Game Three: Dingers v. Vertex

As has been the case for all visiting teams on this night, no offense. Dingers would be no different. Mike Casbar smashed a solo shot in the first and then he drove in another run in the 2nd. Mike’s 2 rbi would be the only offense the ‘Dingers’ produced.

Vertex on the other hand had no problem scoring. Mike Bitterlich hit a 2-run shot in the 1st as did KC Ingram. Bitterlich then smashed another r2-run bomb in the 3rd. Doubles by Dave DeStephanie, Tom Rider and Justin Miller led to 4…4th inning runs and Rider and Justin both singled home two more in the 5th. Justin would be the dagger that ended the Dingers’ night as it generated the mercy rule. Vertex easy winners, 17-2.

Game Four: Vertex v. Cale’s Pale Ales

Well, Vertex playing the 2nd game of their twin bill and they were all warmed up offensively.
We’ll start with Cale’s though.

Brennan Rudnick hit a solo bomb in the 1st inning. Dave Knox cleared the bases with his triple in the 3rd and TJ Ohnstrup smashed a 3-run homer in the 4th. All of this made the way for 10 Cale runs through the first 4 innings.

BUT, as we said earlier…Vertex’s bats were red hot. 11 men in their line-up and all 11 scored at least once. Mat C, Shane H and Mike B all scored 5 times. More impressively are these game stat lines:
• Justin Miller (batting lead-ff) 5-5 with 4 runs scored
• Shane Hanna – 5-5 with 3 home runs, 5 runs scored and 12 RBI.
• Mike Brown – 4-5 with 2 home runs, 5 runs scored and 5 RBI
• Matt Schaub – 4-5 with 2 home runs, 3 runs scored and 5 RBI
Very impressive stat lines. Vertex wins handedly, 33-10.
