Week 5 - July 23rd

Game One: Mike’s Bar & Grill v. Beers

First game of the evening and Mike’s Bar & Grill just wasn’t for it. RBI singles by Matt McReynolds and Brandon Miller were it. Two runs or the game, no additional offense to speak of.

Ryan Calabro tripled twice while driving in 4 runs. Matt Kane and Justin both scored twice as Beers plated 11.
Beers winners, 11-2.

Game Two: Mike’s Bar & Grill v. Vertex

Mike’s woke up for their second game, primarily in the 3rd inning when they plated 9 runs. Eric W had the inning’s big hit with a bases-clearing double. John B and Kyle S each scored two times as Mike’s finished with 11 runs.

Issue was, Vertex fared much, much better. Justin Miller had a 3-run home run in the 4th, Shanna Hanna cleared the bases with a triple in the 2nd, Dave DeStephanis drove in 4, and Tom Rider scored 4 times. Vertex plated 31 and destroyed Mike’s by 20.

Game Three: Cale’s Pale Ales v. Team Horsham

Cale’s were beneficiaries of 5 walkes and 3 errors. Brenan Rudnick scored on two of his base-on-balls and John P also scored twice…one on a walk. Cale’s scored 7.

For Horsham, either score keeper was a very strict one or Cale’s could not field a ball. Eight defensive miscues really helped Horsham. Brett Severino had four singles and a walk to go along with scoring 4 times and driving in 2. Casey Saverino homered in the 2nd and Adam Lightkep finished with 3 RBI. Horsham easy winners 22-7.

Game Four: Dingers v. Da Bears

Once again, the story of this game is errors. Too many to speak off so we’ll highlight the runs scored. Robert Knox finished the night a HR away from a cycle, Adam Ceneviva tripled and drove in 3, while Sean Valenza, Austin Agro and Zack Lyall all drove in 2. Da Bears scored 17 times and held a lead late.

Dingers benefited from a consistent offense and exploding late. More on that in a second.

Back-to-back doubles in the 2nd capped a 5 run inning while Rich Schmidt singled home 2 in the 3rd. A series of errors led to Dingers plating 4 more run in the 5th and trailing by 3 in the 6th and fighting against the clock, they put the game away. Extra base hits by Pete Auteri (3B), Mike CAstner (3B), Brandon Birkhead (2B), Connor O’Keefe (2B) and Rich’s triple led to a 9-run 6th and helped seal the win, 23-17.
