Game 1: Kahn & Bobrin v. Mike’s Br & Grill

K&B took a nice lead going into the 4th in large part to Zach rendergast’s 2-run homer in the 1st inning and his 2-run double in the 3rd. Brett Saverio also homered (solo) in the 3rd.

Mike’s replied with a solid 3rd in which they scored 8 times. Brandon Miller started the rally with a single (later scored) and he was followed up by Corey Eyerman’s 3-run double, Dave Shannon’s rbi triple and Joe Talarico’s rbi single. This would be their only rally on the night. They scored twice in the 5th which started with a couple of K&B errors finishing the game with 10.

But K&B had a swift reply to the Mike rally. Mike Bobrin singled to start the away 4th and then it just got bad for Mikes. K&B scored 12 runs in this inning alone highlighted by Vic Patalaro’s 2-run single, Dan Lineberger’s 2-run single and Mat Galasso’s rbi double. Brian McEachern then had a 2-run sac fly in the 5th to put the nail in coffin. K&B dominate 25-10.

Game 2: Beers v. Vertex

Beers’ offense really came out blazing and against the Vertex offense…they needed to be. Ryan Maley led off the inning and game with a blast over the Quarry wall. A few batters later, with the bases loaded…Ryan Henritzy unloaded them with his triple. The offense continues rolling in the 2nd. Scott Runzer and Rich Acierno both with 2-run hits while Chris Anhalt went 2-2 in the inning and drove in 2. Connor MacFarlane drove in 2 more in the 3rd inning with a double while Kevin Dookey doubled home yet two more in the 4th. Bears offense exploded for 20 runs in by the time the 5th inning came along.

Vertex started out very slow in the first while then getting to work in the 2nd. Jose Rodriguez with the solo bomb, Sean Nonemacher with a 2-run double which was followed up by Matt Schaub’s 2-run double. Vertex seemed to be on their way to an offensive night of their own with 7 tuns in the 2nd. But the offense went quiet producing just 3 hits in the next 3 innings. Russell Miller then drove in 2 runs with a 6th inning double helping to cap a 5 run inning and cutting the deficit to 8. In the 7th, Jose Rodriguez started the rally with a double and would be the first of 4 men to score consecutively. But the batting outs started to pile on and while the deficit was cut to 4, the rally was not enough and Vertex fell 20-16.

Game 3: Da Bears v. Ballz Deep

Da Bears’ offense already facing defensive challnges against a good offense by showing up with just 9 players was enough to overcome. But the 9 in the line-up unfortunately did not really get going. Jason Adelman was able to drive in a run with a sac fly in the first inning scoring Zack Lyall. In the 2nd, Zack then tripled home 2 runs to cap a 4 run spurt. But the 5 runs scored to this point would be the only ones they'd score for the game.

On the flip side, Ballz Deep got to work right away. Jarrett Kerns doubled to start the first and after a 2-run single by Joe Dimezza, rbi snigle by Sean Batrica, sac fly by Jim Chapman, 2-run single by Chris Morgan and a 2-run single by Gene Walczak…BD scored 14 before the inning was over. Sean doubled home 2 more in the 2nd inning with a double and tripled by Jarrett and Jay Falcone pushed the offensive output to 25. Mercy rule decided this one as Ballz Deep went ‘balls deep’ on those bears and crushed them by 20.

Game 4: Dingers v. Da Bears

Dingers would have seemed to be in for a rough night in this game, but defensive miscues by Da Bears kept them in the game. An error in the first inning allowed Mike Casbar to score after already driving in a run and hitting a triple. In the 3rd, Brandon Walker tripled and scored on an error allowing Pete Auteri to drove in one and Connor O’Keefe to drive in another. Only in the 7th when Connor led off the frame with a double did he score clean on Connor Patterson’s single. Dingers stayed around and scored 10.

Da Bears really wanted to bounce back after the game 3 smackdown and got to work quickly. Matt K. and Adam C. both drove in runs in the 1st, while Sean V. doubled home 2 in the 2nd inning capping a 6-run spurt. Sean V. and Matt K. would then drive in runs in the 4th and 6th innings helping push 16 men across and prevent a twin bill sweep. They hang on to win 16-10.
