Week 5 - July 13th

Post by latincontrol »

Game One: Mike’s Bar & Grill v. Philly Junk

Unfortunately for Mike’s – just 4 hits in the game. Dave Shannon was 1-1 with a double in his lone AB.
Philly scored 30 for the game with 9 coming in the 2nd and 10 in the 4th. Tom Ivers had the walk-off walk in the 4th. Brett Anker went 3-3 with 3 singles, 3 runs scored and 2 ribbies. Brandon Bozek, hitting out of the 10 spot finished with 2 hits and 5 rbi.

Game Two: Dingers v. Wire 2 Wire

Dingers certainly looked like they were going to make an attempt to run away with the game when they pushed 5 across in the first inning. Pete Auteri had the big hit in the way of a 2-run triple. However, they would not score again until the 6th when Mike Casbar hit a 2-out triple and scored on Dave Iatarola’s single. Dave also scored in the frame on Pete’s single.
W2W had a more steady approach plating 3 in the 3rd, 1 in the 4th and 5 in the 6th. Phil Liptop started the 6th with a single and John, Joe, Chris and Bill all singled consecutively as well. This lead to a team total of 9 runs for the game and 2 run victory over Dingers.

Game Three: Beers v. Dookie Brewster

Beers got on the board in the 2nd inning when Chris Anhalt drove in a run with a sac fly and Connor Macfarlane doubled one home. But…again another team that did not score pretty much the rest of the way except an rbi single by Matt Kane in the 7th to score Ryan Maley…who had doubled earlier.
Dookie did not have their usual offensive explosiveness but didn’t need to. Jose Rodriguez had a nice game with 3 hits and he alone matching Beers’ run total by scoring 3 times. Dookie had just a 1 run lead heading into the 6th and needing insurance runs…well, they more than covered it with a 5-run inning. Tom Koelzer doubled home one while Jay Cybok singled home the inning’s 4th and 5th runs. Dookie did enough to win, 93.

Game Four: King’s Corner v. Team Horsham

The King’s men absolutely erupted in the first inning sending 16 men to the plate with 11 in the line up. Jarrett Kerns had a 2-run single while Matt Schaub smashed a 3-run homer. They scored 13 in the first. Buuuuuuuut, again, yet another team that afterward did not do much else the rest of way. They did score 3 in the 6th when John Erb cleared the bags with a double. King’s Corner finished with 16.
But the game would belong to Horsham. Zach Prendergast had a customarily usually game going 3-3 with a sac fly, 3 runs scored, 6 rbi which included a 3rd inning 3 run bomb. Dan Lineberger had 3 hits in 4 AB’s which included 4 runs scored and 3 ribs. Vinie Paone was also 4-4 with 4 singles and 2 ribbies. Horsham on this night plated 19 runs and despite the strong start by the King’s Men…they defeat them 19-16.
