Week 7 - July 27th

Game One: Dookie Brewster v. HG Coal Fire Pizza

Coal Fire Pizza got a rbi triple from Brendan Parker in the first inning and an rbi double from Jay Stein in the 2nd inning. Relative quiet in the middle innings, they exploded for 7 runs in the 6th which was highlighted by a 2-run triple off the bat of Josh Keszczyk and a 2-run homer by Brendan. Brendan finished the night a double short of the cycle. Coal Fire plated 2 more runs in the 7th in route to a 15-run effort.
HG would need a good day at the plate to keep up with Dookie. A series of walks and singled by Rob McKenna and Jay Cybok helped with a 5-run first inning. Homeruns by James McLaughlin and Rob McKenna added 3 more in the 3rd while Jon Poore hit his first of two home runs of the game with a solo shot in the 5th. Tom Koelzer then hit his 1st of two home runs in the 6th while adding insurance runs in the 7th with his 2nd HR in the 7th. Dookie scored 20 to take the game.

Game Two: Team Horsham v. Philly Junk

Horsham, who’s offense seemed to be sometimes on and others times not…were on tonight. Brett Saverio tripled and scored and Eric Lane doubled and scored...both in the first as part of a 6-run inning. Jarrett Prendergast, Eric and Benji Abercombe all doubled in the 2nd while scoring 3 more and a huge 5th inning in which the team scored 9 more runs was highlighted with Brett’s 2-run single.
Philly is always gonna get their runs and Shanne Hanna & Brett Anker both doubled in the first inning to push across 3. In the 2nd, Mike Bitterlich’s 2-run double highlighted a 6-run effort while the team pushed across 2 more in the 3rd. Philly went quiet in the middle innings before scoring 3 in the 6th (Cameron K, rbi double) and 2 more in the 7th with KC Ingram this time doubling home another. Philly scored 16, but fell just short.

Game Three: Dingers v. King’s Corner

Dingers got good production from the top of their order in route to a 17-run effort. 13 of those runs came from the top 5 in the line-up. Brandon Walker with a 3-hit effort scored 4 times and included a 2-run home run in the 4th. Pete Auteri had a perfect 5-5 night as he also scored 4 times. Mike Casbar went 4-5 with 2 doubles and 6 rbi.
KC did nothing in the first but went nuts offensively in the 2nd. Chris Abato drove in 2 with a single and Sean Nonemacher cleared the bags with a double. The team scored ELEVEN in the 2nd inning alone. Bill Brancato doubled home 2 in the 4th & Matt Schaub with the Granny in the 5th. Sean drove in two more runs in the 6th inning pushing the run total to 22 which was enough to claim the game.

Game Four: Mike’s Bar & Grill v. Wire-2-Wire

W2W got to work quickly with 2-run hits from Gene Walkzak and Bill Walker. Joe Dimezza tripled home a run in the 2nd while a series of walked led to 6 additional runs being scored in the 3rd. Greg Guarino singled home2 more in the 5th as W2W had scored 17 to this point.
Horsham got some offense going in the 2nd inning with an rbi single from Joe Talavicee, a 2-run triple from Eric Rosenblum and an rbi single from Kyle Saba. They managed to score 3 more in the 5th off of errors…but finishing with just 8 would not be enough to beat Wire-2-Wire.
