Week 9 - June 10th

Post by latincontrol »

Game One: Beers v. King’s Corner

King’s Corner didn’t much going offensively. John Erb singled home a run in the first inning which was followed by Matt Schaub’s sac fly. They didn’t score again until the 6th inning when CJ Snyder doubled home one and Frank Staber singled home another. Those would be the only 4 runs for the Kings.
Beers got a lead-off triple from Ryan Maley who later scored on Ryan Calabro’s ground out. Ryan drove in a run in the 3rd with a sac fly. In the 5th, a small rally. Highlighted by rbi singles from Kevin D, Justin B, Rich A and Ryan Calabro they pushed across 4 runs and Ryan Maley with his 2nd SF of the game drove in his 2nd rbi. Beers scored 7 and took the game by 3.

Game Two: Wire 2 Wire v. Philly Junk

This game was a take of two stories. W2W going to work offensively early and Philly doing so late in the game.
W2W put a run on the board after Greg reached base on a fielders choice and scored on Jacob M’s single. In the 2nd inning, W2W got to work. Bill Shallcross had the inning’s most productive hit with a 2-run single. Gene made sure to drive in the inning’s 7th run with a double. Gene then went on to drive in 2 runs in each of the 4th and 6th innings, both times hitting doubles. W2W finished with 14.
Philly started slower. Brandon Birkhead smashed a 2-run homer in the first inning and drove in a run in the 3rd with a sac fly. In the 5th, Brandon singled home another run and was quickly followed by Mike B who hit a 2-run double. In the 6th, Philly made sure to cross 5 men at the plate with Brandon driving in yet another run…this time with a double. That would Philly’s 14th run of the game and the run which would ensure this game ended in a tie.

Game Three: Dingers v. HG Coal Fire Pizza

Dingers played the game short handed on the field, but it did not affect them offensively. Mike C had himself a night with a 4-5 pe4rformance which included 2 doubles, 2 triples, 3 runs scored and 4 rbi. Pete A had three this of his own which included a home run, a triple, 2 runs scored and 3 ribbies. Dingers scored 14 times.
HG got on the board in the first inning after an Andrew Parker 2-run homer and again in the 3rd inning when Andrew tripled home a run. To that point they had only managed 3 runs…but they exploded in the 5th inning. Matt Fronheiser doubled home 2, Andrew drove in another with a single and Matt Messina also doubled and scored in the midst of a 13 run outburst. Brandon also started a 4 run 6th with a triple en route to the team plating 17 runs in just the last two innings. Needless to say, more than enough to win the game 21-14.
