Summer Playoffs at the Quarry

Post by MikeY »

Game 1: #3 Irish Car Bombs (5-3) at #2 Mayhem (5-3)
Mayhem gets a run in the bottom of the 1st off of two errors and a single. Both teams go scoreless in the 2nd. ICB plates 7 in the top of the 3rd on two walks, four hits and two errors and they’d add another in the 4th to take an 8-1 lead. Mayhem comes up in the bottom of the 4th and plates 6 runs on two ground outs and seven hits including a 3-run HR from Justin Miller to cut their deficit to 1 runs. Each team would add a run in the 5th and that’s how the game would finish…9-8 in favor of ICB.

Player of the game: Rob McKenna (ICB) – 2/3 (3B, 1B) 1 R, 3 RBI

Game 2: #4 The Commission (3-5) at #1 Outback Steakhouse (5-3)
The Commission takes a quick 1-0 lead via an error and two singles. Outback takes advantage of two errors in the bottom half, taking a 2-1 lead and they’d extend it to 5-2 in the 2nd via three hits, a walk and a groundout. A 2-run HR by Kevin Roche cuts Commission’s deficit to 5-3 but Outback would get those 2 back and add 2 more from three singles, three doubles and a walk in the bottom half. A double and RBI singles gets 1 run across for the Commission in the top of the 4th but Outback would get 6 runs on six hits including a 2-run HR by Greg Moylan and a solo HR by Ryan Henritzy to take a 15-4 lead and they’d never look back. They’d add 1 in the 5th and 4 more in the 6th and take this one 20-10.

Player of the game: Keith Keppley (Outback) – 3/4 (2 1B, 2B, ROE) 2 R, 3 RBI

Game 3: #3 Yum Yum Bakery (4-4) at #2 Balls Deep (7-1)
Yum Yum gets their leadoff man on via an error and brings 2 runs in via a bunch of singles. They’d tack on another run via a Matt Friend solo HR in the top of the 3rd. BD gets a solo HR in the bottom of the 4th by Ed Sheehan to make it s 3-1 game. Three singles and a triple plate 3 runs for Yum Yum in the top of the 5th and BD would get 2 back in the bottom half. Yum Yum immediately plates 4 more in the top of the 6th via two singles and three doubles and that’s all they’d need and would take this one 10-6.

Player of the game: Matt Friend (Yum Yum) – 4/4 (1B, 2 2B, HR) 3 R, 4 RBI
