Game #1 – Wackers vs. LA Pools

Wackers get rolling early with a Greg Lavin RBI single. Mike Ivers responds for Wackers in the bottom of the second with a solo bomb. Both teams step up defensively in the third and lock it down without letting anyone score. Pools are the first to strike big in the fourth batting around and pushing five runs across. This was thanks to six straight singles highlighted by an RBI single from Joan Glass and two run single from Greg Reilly. Wackers respond with their big inning one inning later. Keith Bauer started it with an RBI double following by a Eric Szobek RBI single and Erin McEachem bases loaded walk. Alex Freeman had the big shot in the inning with a bases loaded triple. In the end, Wackers take a 9-6 lead. Wackers grab two runs in the sixth before exploding in the seventh when looking for some insurance runs. They certainly get some pushing 11 runs across and blowing this game wide open. Freeman was back at it with a solo homer while Roc Askers and Lissa Terch added two run doubles. In the end, it’s all Wackers in this one. Wackers win 22-10.

Game #2 – Knuckleheads vs. The Maize

Knuckleheads strike first in this one, making their debut, and push four runs across in the top half of the first. Anthony Crawford started the scoring with an RBI single followed by an RBI double from Kyle Simonye. A batter later, Jose Rodriguez smashed a two run bomb deep into the woods. The long ball was back at it again for Knuckleheads in the fourth, this time Simonye smashing a solo shot. The Maize finally strike in the third getting one run off a couple singles and a couple errors. Stephanie Farrar gets into the action for Knuckleheads with an RBI triple in the top of the fourth followed by RBI singles from Rodriguez and Bob Hartzell. Maize continues to struggle at the plate and keeps coming up empty. Knuckleheads add three more runs late as they take this one easy. Knuckleheads win 13-2.

Game #3 – The Maize vs. Bad Pitches Only

The final game gets started with three straight walks, which leads to three runs, one off of a Bill Worthington sac fly. Bad Pitches only gets two runs back off an error and RBI single from Ryan Tuffy. The Maize keeps the party going in the second getting four more runs, this time from a two run single from Gary Kleinschmidt and RBI single from Keith Bellinger. Bad Pitches look to stay in this game and grab two more runs in the third thanks to a Jimmy Gallagher single and a fielders choice. The Maize explode in the top of the fourth, as they had been waiting for, and they score 11 runs in total. The inning started off with four straight walks as Bad Pitches stuggle at the mound. Tom Eggito gets another one on an RBI single, before another walk is issued. Joe DeSousa rounds out the inning with a two run single as they extend their lead to 18-4. Pitches will not go down quietly as they put up a fast 5 runs in the fifth highlighted by a Conor Piece two run bomb. Unfortunetly, the game will end there as the time limit is reached and Maize will take this one. Maize wins 18-9.
