Game #1 – The Maize vs. Rock N Rebel (NL)

Both teams come out sharp defensively and cold with there is no runs across the first two innings of play. March McCouch nets the first three runs of the game for Rebel smashing a three run bomb into the woods. Maize gets its first run in the top of the fourth on an RBI double from Gary Kleinschidt. Rebel quickly respond with two runs on back-to-back hits from Ray Berry and Stefano Giuliani. Maize gets going in the fifth as Nick Chiaverini smashes a two run singles sparking a comeback. Joe DeSousa also adds a RBI single to get them to within one run. Maize takes the lead in the sixth when Chiaverini smacks another two run single, but that was short lived as Rebel ties the game back in the bottom of the inning. Bobby Citrino delivered an RBI double in the inning. To Eggito gives Maize the lead with a bases loaded walk as we head to the bottom of the seventh with a two-run lead. Rebel is able to get the winning run to the plate, but they would fall short. The Maize win 9-7.

Game #2 – Bry-Lex vs. Knuckleheads (AL)

The scoring in game two does not get started until the second inning when Anthony Crawford smashes a two run bomb into the woods. Addie Hatchen and John Scofield also add RBI singles in the inning to give Knuckleheads the early 4-0 lead. Knuckleheads get back to work in the third batting around and scoring a whopping 12 runs. Birksmith goes deep in the inning smashing a grand slam and really breaking this game open for Knuckleheads. Matt Bookheimer and Bobby Hartzell also delivered with RBI’s in the inning. Bryce Bundy is able to get two runs back for Bry-Lex with a two run bomb, but that is all the offense they could muster up in this one. Knuckleheads run away with this one. Knuckleheads win 17-2.

Brandon Birkhead (Knuckleheads) – 3/3, HR, 4 RBI’s



Game #3 – The Maize vs. Roos (NL)

Maize look to build off their earlier win, but the break proves to slow them down as they only score two runs across the first two innings. Roos did the opposite and come out of the gate flying putting up nine runs in the first inning. Jeremy Villano delivered the first run on a sac fly and the hits kept piling in from there. Dave Blum, John Marcicin, Selina Alicea and Kayla Diamond all had RBI singles in the inning. Roos were right back at it in the second inning adding to their already big lead by adding 10 more runs. Jake Blum and Villano go back to back in the inning with home runs and Alicea added two more on a two run double. Roos will cruise into the championship with a big victory. Roos win 21-2.
