Game #1 – Carroll’s vs. Wehrung’s

Wehrung’s get rolling with a two run bomb off the bat of Wyatt Schilling right out of the gate. After a couple innings of quietness, Wehrung’s explode for nine runs in the third inning. Eric Senderling and Alex Poniktera both have RBI hits that help to set up the big shot, a Schilling grand slam deep into the woods, giving him two homers through three innings. Carroll’s try to start their comeback in the fifth getting a run on an RBI double. Carroll’s next chance with some baserunners comes in the seventh, when they push across four runs. Unfortunately, they will run out of time and fall in this one. Wehrung’s win 11-7.

Game #2 – The Maize vs. Carroll’s

The Maize looks to build off their prior week’s big win, but come out really slow not able to score any runs across the first couple of innings. Carroll’s come out firing with four runs in each of the first two innings. Keving Shinkunas had a bases clearing double in the first inning, while Greg Lesher had a big two run double in the second inning. Sarah Yoos and Kelly Gallgher had RBI singles in the inning as well. Carroll’s keep those good vibes going, with three more runs in the third with RBI singles from Shinkunas, Hallie Bilker and Gallagher. Carroll’s ends this one quickly as they put up four more runs in the fourth and hold Maize to nothing across five innings. Carroll’s win 15-0.

Game #3– Altek vs. The Maize

Altek looks to start off strong and get a three run homer from Kevin Cwikla to take the lead. Maize may have just needed a game to get going as they push across five runs in the bottom of the inning. Austin Grasso and Gary Kleinschmidt have RBI singles and Aaron Worthington knocked in two on a double. Altek gets another run back on a Jesse Ludwig single and an error. Altek grab the lead in the third, thanks to another bomb from Cwikla as they lead 7-5. Maize take a lead in the fourth with four runs in the bottom of the fourth. Grasso forced a bases loaded walk and Kleinschmidt nets two runs on a single. Altek bats around in the sixth and grab the lead back. Justin Morris had a bases clearing double in the inning and Cwikla kept hitting the ball with a two run double. We head to the seventh where Maize is trailing. Bob Garges draws an RBI walk, followed by a William Schakenberg RBI single. Grasso plays hero in this one as he hits a walk off grand slam to give Maize the win. Maize wins 18-16.
