Week 2 at Hatfield


Game #1 –Sharks vs. Roos

Sharks take an early lead with an Ed Doyle RBI single and a couple errors in the first inning. Dan Wehlau gets one back for Roos with an RBI single of his own. Sharks answer that quickly with a Glen Hipple RBI single in the top of the second. Sharks get six more runs in the top of the third thanks to RBI singles from Jason Kamicnski, Ryan Hamilton and Adam Linch. The big shot was a bases clearing triple for Mark Danovski pushing their lead to 10-1. Roos get back some in the bottom of the inning with a Tom Montvydas RBI double and two run single from Dan Wehlau. Neither team scores until the Sharks put up five runs in the sixth. Hipple helped the cause with a RBI single and Mark Danovski also added an RBI in the inning. Doug Farrar smashed a two run double for Roos helping to cut into the Sharks lead. That is all they would be able to muster up in this one as they fall without any runs in the seventh. Sharks win 15-6.

Game #2 – The Maize vs. Wackers

Wackers start the scoring in this one with an RBI single from Matt Figuroa. Maize responds and gets two runs in the top of the second with a two run double from Joe DeSousa. Wackers come out in the bottom of the second with a big inning. In the end, Wackers bat around and put up 11 runs. Gene Schwendeman started the scoring with a two run double, and a bunch of singles and errors really help to pace the scoring in the inning. Defense shuts down the next two innings and the leather was flashed from both sides. We continue to sit at a 12-2 game with the advantage going to Wackers. Constantine Georgidadis had another RBI for Wackers pushing their lead up another run. Maize gets going late in the game with five runs late. A Greg Mack double helped get a couple runs across as well as a Tom Eggito single. DeSousa also had an RBI single later in the game which gave them seven runs total. In the end, it was not enough as Wackers win this one. Wackers win 13-7.

Game #3 – Carroll’s vs. New Age

The final game of the night starts with a Kyle Gallagher two run bomb in the first inning giving Carroll’s the early lead. Jim Kennedy responds with a two run bomb of his own for New Age as we stand at 2-2 after one inning. Carrolls really get going in the third with seven runs. Ali Theis started the scoring with an RBI double and then Marianne Borrell sends one across with a run of his own. Coty Thomas has something to say for New Age and smashes a three run bomb out into the field keeping the Carrolls lead at four. Carrolls bat around again and get nine this time. Mike Stacey had an RBI single, followed by a Kevin Shinkunas two run single, three run bomb from Greg Lesher and a couple of batters later, a Bill Shipe two run bomb. After New Age drops no runs in the bottom of the inning, the Carrolls lead stands at 18-5. Carrolls continue to pile on the runs and grab another nine runs across the next two innings. New Age gets four more runs later in the game, but it is not enough as they are overmatched in this one. Carrolls win 27-9.
