Week 3 at Groveland (Saturday Makeup)

Game #1 –LA Pools vs. Blue Dog


Pools jump out to a two run lead early in this one with back to back RBI singles from Mike Cianfichi and Theresa Groves. Blue Dog gets one run back in the bottom of the inning with a RBI single from Mark McCouch. Blue Dog ties the game in the bottom of the second with a Bill Ruth hit. In the third, Blue Dog comes out and blows this one open smashing the ball to the tune of eight runs. Dave McDonald and McCouch started the scoring with an RBI single and RBI double respectfully. Ed Reynolds added a RBI double a couple of batters later. Blue Dog ends the inning with a RBI double from Mark McCouch and a Donna Finlayson RBI single. Pools grab a couple of more runs across the next couple innings, but Blue Dog opens up again with five runs in the fifth. Reynolds had another big hit in this one, this time a two run single. Blue Dog shuts this one down late and secures the victory. Blue Dog wins 19-8.

Game #2 – LA Pools vs. Wackers

Pools grab two runs early in this one from a Mike Cianfichi two run single as they try to break out early after their first game struggles. Wackers tie it up in the bottom of the inning with a Bill Brancato RBI single and Alex Freeman RBI single. Wackers grab the lead in the third after a five run inning powered by RBI hits from Brancato and Mike Kelly as well as a two run homer from Gene Schwendeman. The struggles continue as they can only grab three runs across the fourth and fifth innings. Wackers continue to get production from the entire lineup as Alex Freeman smashes a two run homer in the fifth and Kelly gets and RBI double in the sixth. Schwendeman also added an RBI triple late in the game as Wackers put this one away. Wackers win 16-5.

Game#3 – New Age vs. Roos

The last game of the day at Groveland starts with a Tom Montvydas two run bomb into the Groveland brush. New Age doubles that in the top of the second getting four runs started from a Mark Maund two run double and Jim Kennedy RBI single. Roos fight back and take that lead right back with a five run inning of their own in the bottom of the inning. Anthony Crawford started it with a three run bomb and Dan Wehlau added a RBI single later in the inning. New Age takes the lead again in the fourth with five more runs. Doug Kile, Maund and Coty Thomas had RBI hits in the inning. Wehlau comes up big for the Roos in the fourth with two homers pushing across three runs. The rest of the Roos chimed in too to give them eight runs overall. Jake Blum helped the cause with a bases clearing triple. New Age continues to battle back and gets another seven runs across the fifth and sixth innings. Maund smashes a two run triple and Kennedy smashed a two run bomb. This exciting game ends early due to time limit with Roos holding a one run lead. Roos win 17-16
