Game One: Beers v. Team Horsham

What a game this one proved to be. Ryan Maley and Scott Runzer got to work right away in the first inning with both smashing solo bombs. Ryan Whiteley got in on the action in 2nd with a 2-run shot of his own and Runzer them smashed his 2nd of the night…another solo bomb in the 4th. Kevin Dooley doubled home 2 in the 6th helping Beers plate 11 to that point.
Horsham boys were up to the task. Zach Prendergast hit a solo bomb of his own in the 1st inning while Grant Opalisky cleared the bases with a double in the 3rd and hit a 2-run bomb in the 4th inning. Horsham also plated 11 runs to that point setting up the dramatic ending.
Ryan Calabro started the 7th with a double and later scored on Greg Ashton’s double…with Greg later scoring as well. Beers now had the 2 run lead looking to advance to the semi-finals.
Horsham gets a crack at it in the bottom of the 7th and get to work. Grant Opalisky drove in a run to cut the deficit and Eric Lane immediately followed with an rbi single of his own. Game now tied. Brad Humski singled to load the bases and Vince Paone had the moment. Vince also singled to score Grant and take the walk off win, 14-13.

Game Two: Dingers v. Ballz Deep

Dingers got two hits from Brandon Walker who would himself score two times. Dave Iatarola had a double and also scored while the rest of the team managed just 6 hits. Three runs for Dingers would NOT be enough.
Ballz Deep needed just the first inning to win this one. FOURTEEN runs in the frame which were highlighted and capped on Jarrett Kerns’ 2-run homer. Jarrett had also doubled and scored earlier in the inning. Ballz Deep went on to score 23 runs and advance very easily.

Game Three: Team Horsham v. Philly Junk

Horsham now in the semis, now facing a toucher task against the Philly boys. They got to work early once again plating 2 runs in the first, 6 in the 3rd and 5 in the 4th. Jarrett P doubled and scored in the 1st, Brett S tripled home 2 in the second and Zack P with the grand slam in the 4th inning. With the bases loaded, Zach was walked in the 6th to tie the game. Philly now letting this game get away.
Philly, as expected also had their offense going. 5 runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings with 2 more un the 4th and 2 in the 6th. Tom Ivers and Brandon Bozek both with 2-run singles in the 2nd, Mike Bitterlich with a 2-run homer in the 4th and rbi knocks by Brett and Brandon in the 6th. With the dramatics leading up to this point, the 7th would decide this game.
Philly got a triple from Brandon Birkhead who scored on Andy May’s sac fly. KC would get a 2-out hit, but they managed to push 1 only. Issue was, this was way short of what they needed to advance, as Horsham had once again come up BIG in the 7th.
After Brad H snigled to start the inning, a barrage of consecutive men reaching base ensued. Jarrett doubled home another run, Grant O did as well and before the final out was made, Horsham had pushed 6 men across for the 20-14 lead. As said before, Philly could only manage 1 run so Horsham won another dramatic game on the night, this time…20-15.

Game Four: Ballz Deep v. Vertex

We had a real tight game here going into the 6th inning with just a 5-3 Vertex lead. Vertex had scored 4 runs in the third after rbi producing at bats from Russell Miller, Keith Crowell, Zack Martin and Adam Smith. CJ Snyder later added another run with a sac fly in the 4th.
Ballz Deep had gotten a solo bomb from Chris M in the 2nd inning while Jim C doubled home 2 in the 5th to go along with Gene W’s rbi single. In the 6th inning, game getting tight and pressure mounting…Alex F singled and later scored on Jarrett Kerns’ double. This had allowed Balls Deep to tie the game at 5. But in the home half of the 6th, Vertex got to work. Adam Smith drove in 1 with a single as did Matt Schaub, Jose Rodriguez and Dave DeStephanis. Frank Staber drew a bases loaded walk to push the lead to 5.
Ballz Deep now needed to respond in the 7th. John E started with a single along with Joe D. Jcob M drove in with a sac fly and Gene W doubled home another run. Lead was cut to 3, but they ran out of outs. Vertex had now advance to the Chip with a 10-7 victory to face Team Horsham!
