Fall - Week 2 - 9/3/19

Post by latincontrol »

Game One: Team Horsham v. Beers

Well, game one…not much to write about for the Horsham squad. Brett Saverio tripled and scored in the 5th, Adam Lightkep singled and scored in the 2nd and Eric Daley walked and scored in the 5th. That’s it.

Beers’ had themselves a 9-run 4th. More than enough for this game. Ryan Maley homered in the inning while 5 others singled home a run in the same frame. Chris Anhalt finished with a perfect 3-3 night and drove in 2.

Game Two: Vertex v. Mike’s Bar & Grill

This one was all Vertex. A 13-run th inning would really cause the most damage but they also scored 6 in the 1st, 5 in the 3rd and 2 in the 5th. Shane Hanna continued his tear through the league with another perfect night at the plate. This time going 4-4 and missing the cycle by a triple; 4rbi and 3 runs scored.

For Mike’s, Dave Shannon smashed a 2-run homer in the first and later drove in another run in the 5th. Joe Talariso scored twice helping finished the game with 9 runs as a team. Not enough, Vertex win easily.

Game Three: Dingers v. Cale’s Pale Ales

Brendan Birkhead hit a ‘dinger’ in the first inning in the form of a grand slam. He tripled in the 2nd, and singled in the 6th. Connor O’Keefe drove in 4 and Dava Iatarola doubled twice. Dingers with a little defensive help from the other team, or lack thereof, plated 22.

Cale’s, well if it weren’t for the error fest, may have fared much worse. A whopping 9 errors by Dinger allowed Cale’s to plate 9 men. Dave Knox had 3 hits and scored 3 times while driving in 2. But again, mainly errors…no other offense to talk about. Dingers win 22-9.

Game Four: Coal Fried Pizza v. Dingers

For CFP, Brendan Parker doubled and scored on Mark Kennedy’s triple in the 2nd. Tyler Cohen and Mike Marcelline both scored in the 3rd…and well…that’s it. 4 runs in the game for CFP. Their offense went down in order 1-2-3 in 3 of their six innings and almost did so in another inning if not for an error. Ouch.

Dingers, took advantage. Connor tripled home 2 in the first, Luke R singled home 2 in the 3rd, Connor again tripled and scored in the 4th, Chris M singled home 1 in the 5th and Brandon B doubled home 2 in the 6th. Dingers plate 19 and take the final game of the night easily.
