Monday Evening Coed / Spring 2019

Post by sixofdiamonds »

The official Monday Evening Coed schedule for the Spring 2019 season is now posted. Access the schedule from the main Softball America webpage, call the game line (215-822-8777, option 3), or click here... Monday Evening Coed

As you will see, Hatfield Township will not permit us to start until April 15th. For opening Day on April 1st, the Quarry games will get played as scheduled. The games lost at Hatfield for Week 1 will be played at the Quarry in Week 2 (April 8th). In Week 3 (April 15th) we will play at both fields.

We will be using the same scheduling format as was used last fall season. Teams are divided into 2 equally competitive leagues of 6 teams each – American League and National League. The leagues will be formed off of prior season standings. In other words, the 2 finalists in the prior season A Division championship will become the top teams in the American and National leagues.

Scheduling will consist of each team playing every team in their league (5 games) plus 3 games vs. the other league. At the end of the regular season, the 1st place teams in each league will move directly to the finals and play one another in the 2/3 A league championship. The remaining playoff contenders (seeds 2 thru 5 in each league) will enter a playoff tournament. The 2 remaining teams (1 from the American League and 1 from the National League) will move to the finals and play the 2/3 B league championship.

The Dugout Demons vs. Roos game on 5/6/19 was played under official protest. The protest was lodged by manager Phil Black (Dugout Demons) stemming from the use of a restricted bat by an opposing player. The protest has been upheld and the game will be replayed from the point of the infraction/protest as part of a double header on 5/20/19. A revised schedule has/will be posted.

In order to make room for the protested game on 5/20, the 2 vs. 8 game will move from 9:00 to 7:45. The 1 vs. 7 game will move from 7:45 to 9:00 pm. Roos will play at Hatfield, 8:15 and again at the Quarry, 10:15. Dugout Demons will play at 9:00 and 10:15.

In accordance with league scheduling guidelines, the postponed Monday Coed games from Monday, June 10th have been rescheduled for Saturday, June 15th.

The first week of rainouts will be rescheduled for the first Monday following the regular season. Additional rainout weeks will be rescheduled for the second Saturday (if available) following the date of the actual rainout. A rainout on the final week of the regular season will be rescheduled for the very next available Saturday.

I was hoping there was a way around Saturday make-ups, but there was not. Monday rain has been excessive. As is customary, Hatfield has blocked out 5 Mondays in the summer for Concerts in the Park which will push the Monday schedule to the limit.

If you are having trouble fielding a full team on a Saturday, you can still play the game using subs. All a team needs are 4 roster players. Pick up 4 subs and the other team can supply a catcher. The sub rules are quite lax for games played on other than a Monday. If you cannot field a team, please be so kind as to let me know so I can let your opponent know.

A revised schedule has been posted online.

With the Monday schedule running as late as it did, the Hatfield Concerts in the Park snuck up on us. The first concert of the summer is slated for this coming Monday, June 24th. The 2/3 series is slated for this Monday, June 24th. The first game of the series will not start until 8 pm. We do have Township permission to run late if it should go 3 games.
