Over 40 Men's League

Post by sixofdiamonds »

If you are interested in playing in an over 40 men's league on Sunday afternoons at the Quarry, either fill out a full team or free agent form located below as soon as possible. If we can get enough interest, we will give it a go.

Free Agent Form
Full Team Form

It was brought to my attention the forms had no place to indicate Sunday Afternoon Men's Over 40. The forms have been fixed.

How about opening it up to women over 40, too?

That would mean turning it into a coed league. We can't get enough females of any age for coed, let alone over 40. If there are 48 or more over-40 females out there interested in playing, I would be happy to set up an over-40 women's league. The Sunday Afternoon Coed league will remain intact, just not at the Quarry.

There appears to be good interest. If there is enough interest, Opening Day will be September 9th.

This might be a good way to experiment with a draft type league instead of letting teams form on their own.

Any special rules in mind? All plays at home are a force? No sliding, allow base overruns? Extra foul for eddies?

No force at home unless the bases are loaded. Sliding and slide or surrender. No base overruns unless at 1B or home when there is no play there. No extra foul balls. No such thing as an eddie in the men's league.

Any special rules, within limits, will be decided by the managers/players. There is some discussion on 6'-10' pitching, ball/strike mat, and not being confined to a batter's box. I'm looking into allowing the conditional use of crutches and stainless steel walkers - the really nice ones with the white basket and bell on the handle bars.

So, no electric scooters? I already carry O2 in my bag, but will there be defibrillators available?

Opening it up to women over 40 doesn't necessarily make it Coed. Who says you have to invoke special coed rules? Just apply the same rules to everyone regardless of gender.

What is the Bat situation for the this over 40 league? is it still just singlewal bats or do we get to use doublewall composite etc?

Column 1 on the list. Single wall. At 6'-10' hot bats are overkill.

One, possibly 2 teams of free agents are being assembled. Opening Day is slated for September 9th. If you are interested in joining the league as a free agent, fill out a free agent form located here...

Over 40 Men's League

Post by Tank Williams »

- Building a squad for Sunday men’s over-40 at Quarry. In need of an agile SS and speedy LF with good gloves and a decent OBP%. Will be sponsored and shirts provided by either by Steak and Hoagie Factory or Double Visions. Have six guys so far, need six more. NFL games will be on radio. Need to get roster submitted ASAP.

We have 3 teams thus far for the men's over 40 league. We can and will play with 3. It would be nice to have a 4th. Football season has put a little damping on the league's formation, but at least we can get it started. We are opening it up to 38 and 39 year-olds for this, the inaugural season. If you or someone you know is interested in putting an over 40 squad in for the fall, now would be a great time to do so. Opening Day is September 9th.
