Tuesday Men’s Fall Championship Best of Three Series
Game One: Toto/Kiefer v. Vertex

Toto/Kiefer get Chris Hackney to reach base on an error and quickly score on Jon Poore’s single. The next few innings were relatively quiet with a run scored by Jay Cybok in the 2nd, Jon Poore in the 3rd and 2 in the fourth when Mike C and Jon Poore scored. Mike had a 2-run single in the 6th and Ryan G doubled home Brian Pen in the 7th to bring their run total to 9.

Sean Nonemacher tripled to start the home half of the 1st and scored on Mat C’s single. Scoreless in the 2nd, but the offense really got going in the 3rd. Tom Eggito led off the inning with a single. Keith C singled home 1, Nick M doubled home 2, Mat C smashed a 3-run homer and was quickly followed up by Justin Miller who hit a solo shot. Justin’s home run capped a 7-run third. Sean added an rbi-double in the 5th as Vertex plated 12 men for the game to take game 1.

Game Two: Toto/Kiefer squad is now home team.

Game 2 was an offensive explosion on both sides of the ball. Chris Hackney tripled and Brian Pen doubled in the first and both scored. A slew of errors in the 2nd led to 4 runs being scored; John Kiefer with a sac fly in the inning. Mike Brownie homered in the 3rd and Jay Cybok tripled helping 3 more runs cross the plate. Once again a couple of errors led to another 4 runs being scored in the 4th and you guessed it, another run scored in the 5th after Hackney reached base on an error and scored on Bill’s sac fly. Toto/Kiefer plated 19 runs for the game.
But as much as Toto/Kiefer crew exploded for 19 runs, Vertex did more.

Back-to-back-to-back extra base hits from Sean N (double), Mat C (triple), Justin Miler (triple) led to a quick 4 runs on the board in the first. Quiet in the 2nd, Vertex explodes for 11 runs in the third highlighted by Matt Schaub’s 2-run blast, Keith C’s grand slam, Nick Maile triple, and Sean N’s 3-run homer. After a quiet 4th, an error open the gates toward another 7 runs crossing the plate in the 4th (Keith C with the 2-run single). Justin added another 2-run single in the 6th for insurance and Vertex outslugs Toto/Kiefer, 29-19.

Congratulations to Vertex on their Fall Championship Win![/center}
