Welcome to the Summer Session of SOFTBALL AMERICA / B West Division! This Sunday was a HOT DAY!

First up we have

MaGerks (A) vs Jackhammers (H)

The Scoring didn’t start until the 2nd inning as both teams had to wipe the morning crust out of their eyes!

MaGerks fired first as they put together 3 straight hits including a SMASHING Double by Brian Hughes knocking in two runs. The HAMMERS dropped 2 back starting with a WarDROP double followed by a single from Dan Lange who scored on a Ocho Cinco (Chad Johnson) single making it a 3-2 game after 2 innings. After a quiet 3rd inning MaGerks SQUEEZED in 2 more runs starting with a Steve Walker Texas Ranger single, Captain Molloy knocked him in with a Sac Fly then Coach Hilbert singled in Green. Jackhammers failed to answer. The Fifth inning MaGerks pulled away batting around highlighted by a leadoff double by Will the Thrill Clark and an onslaught of singles giving MaGerks at 9-2 lead. The Jackhammers finally started to fight back in the bottom of the 6th when DripDrop Wardrop struck again with a Triple but it was too little too late.

HG Coal Fire (A) vs MaGerks (H)

HG's BATS were on FIRE all game and they started early, little power but singles can kill a team. HG scored 5 runs in the first just off of singles as they batted around. Staying in the game Coach Hilbert BAZOOKA'd a Triple to score 2 and he scored on a Jeff Tongue single. In the 2nd inning Andrew's brother Justin Knapp knocked in the Jay Stein and then scored on a scored on a Andrew Parker double. After MaGerks added a run in the 2nd, Neil Hilbert kept the HG fire burning with a double and scored on a Stein single. It was an 8-7 Coal Fire lead going into the pivotal 4th inning where HG caught FIRE batting around and scoring 7, Andrew Parker PARKED it for a 2 run homer and Neil Herbert knocked in 2 more with a Triple. Eric Cohen ended the scoring with a 2 out Triple scoring 2 more. MaGerks used patience at the plate to inch back scoring 4 off of a walk and 3 singles. HG never stopped the fire though adding 3 more runs off of back to back doubles by Messina and Cohen. MaGerks didn’t go quietly but it wasn’t enough to water the hitting flame that HG put on.

Game MVP(s) - Andrew Parker 5-5 with a HR and 2B and Jay Stein 5-5 in the leadoff spot!


Hattricks (A) vs Palz Tap House (H)

Hattricks started the game with a 2 Run DINGER by Josh Graef blasting one into the Hatfield Trees. Pete Herbert returned fire for the Palz launching a 3 Run Blast over the fence. 3-2 Palz after 1. After shutting down Hattricks in the top of the 2nd, Palz added 4 more headlined by an Andrew Heker DOUBLE. 7-2 Palz after 2. Hattricks fought back scoring 4 in the top of the 3rd headlined by another moon shot for Josh Graef. Palz scored 1 in the bottom of the inning to take an 8-6 lead into the 4th. Dan too many letters in his last name tripled in 3 runs in the 4th for Palz. Hattricks bats got cold in the next few innings but the Palz definitely didn’t slow down adding 3 more in the 5th highlighted by a Alex "Flash" Freeman BOMB. In the 6th the Palz added 7 more runs to put this game away, the inning featured tons of singles but a Big Bob Jacob Double and a bases clearing 3 run double by Pistol Pete Herbert were the big blows. Hattricks score 3 in the bottom of the 6th but too little too late.

Game MVP(s) - In a losing effort Josh Graef who was 3-3 with 2 HRs and a double.

E’s (A) vs Palz Tap House (H)

E's started the game hot with 3 runs in the first, 2 off the bat of Mike Carr with a double. Palz answered right back with 4 after Alex Freeman went yard smashing a 3 run home run. Anthony Snyder helped E's add 1 with a triple that scored Tom Collins but Palz came right back with 2 more highlighted by a Casey Long double. E's had a quiet 3rd and 4th while Palz scored 5 in the 4th mainly because of a bases clearing triple by CASEY LONG for another 3 RBI's. E's made an attempt at a comeback with 3 in the 5th led by a Jeremy Villano 2 run blast but it wasn’t enough.

Game MVP - Casey Long who was 3-4 and was a HR short of the cycle.
