Game #1 – Birdgang vs. Dirtstars

Jason McLaughlin gets the scoring started in this one with a two-run bomb in the top of the first for Birdgang. Dirt Stars respond right away with five runs of their own with back to back two run doubles from Gary Brooks and Joe Carp. Brett Runner also had an RBI single in the inning. Joe Carp was back at it again for Dirt Stars in the third, this time driving in two on a two run bomb. Birdgang looks to stay in the game grabbing three runs across the second and third inning. Dirt Stars continue to pile on the hits and runs late in the game and have a big five run fourth inning and five run sixth inning. Carp is back at it again in those innings adding a two run triple and RBI double respectfully. Shawn Mackley added a two run double and Doug Walbaniav added an RBI single in sixth as well. Jason McLaughlin continues to hit well for Birdgang, but the rest of the team just does not have enough offense in this one and Dirt Stars will move on in the playoffs. Dirt Stars win 17-7.

Game #2 –Hambinos vs. SCLSU Mud Dogs

Mud Dogs come out strong defensively early in this one as Hambinos don’t score any runs across the first three innings. Mud Dogs also apply the pressure as they come out of the gate flying at the plate. Ben Daniels is a strong point for them where over the course of the first three innings, he smashes a two run homer, a two run triple and an RBI triple. Matt Figueroua added a run on an RBI triple as well and they got RBI singles from Trevor Lane, Jason Figueroa and Josh Figueroa across the three innings. After three innings the damage was 17 runs as Mud Dogs hold a 17-0 lead after three innings. It doesn’t get any easier moving forward as Mud Dogs continue to apply the pressure the next couple of innings. Hambinos start to get going in the fifth inning as they finally have a break out inning and score six runs. Spencer Slutsky had a two run double and Matt Good had a two run home run. This was just a little bit too late as Mud Dogs still win this one easy and will move on to the championship. Mud Dogs win 23-7.
