Kahn & Bobrin v. Ballz Deep for the Tuesday Men’s Finals! High-powered offenses but also able to shut things down defensively. Let’s take a look at the results of the best-of-3 series.
Game One: Ballz Deep home team.
K&B struggled offensively from on the on-start. Not scoring a run until the 4th inning and finishing with 5 runs in the game. Grant O, Brett S, Benji A, Dan L & Mike B were the ones to score.
Ballz Deep didn’t exactly blow the doors off offensively either as they scored a run in the 2nd and 3 in the third. Ballz Deep mamaged 5 runs through 4 innings but many coming by way of defensive miscues. Jarrett Kerns blasted a solo home run in the 4th and tripled in the 6th helping the team push across 4 more runs. Ballz Deep did enough to win game one, 11-5.
Game Two: K&B now the home team.
K&B top half of the line up really got to work. A combined 10-13 at the plate which was highlighted by Zach P first inning rbi triple, a grand slam by Brett S in the third and rbi producing AB’s from Grant O and Brett S. These were the same 10 runs scored for the game.
This time however, Ballz Deep could not get going at the plate. With errors down by K&B, Ballz Deep found themselves struggling to produce runs. Jason Falcone singled and scored in the 2nd, Jim C doubled home a run in the 3rd, Sean B with a sac fly in the 5th along with Matt B rbi snigle, and Angelo V with a 2-run bomb in the 6th. BD finished with 6, obviously dropping game two by 4.
Game Three – Deciding Game – Ballz Deep home again.
K&B scored quickly after an reaching base on an error to start the game. Grant O singled and push the run across.
Ballz Deep answered quickly, with Jarrett Kerns smashing a 2-run homer as the team scored 4 times.
Dan L doubled home a run for K&B while BD went scoreless.
Grant O hit a 2-run Sac Fly to tie the game and once again BD went scoreless.
In the 4th inning, both teams managed just one hit…game remained tied at 4.
In the 5th inning, both teams went down in order…1-2-3. Game still knotted at 4.
In the 6th inning, Jarrett P drew a one out walk and quickly scored on Grant O’s double. Grant himself later scored on Eric L’s single. K&B now had a late 6-4 lead. Unfortunately for BD they again went down in order 1-2-3.
In the 7th inning, Bran M singled with two outs and after Dan L also singled…looks like a base running blunder got Brian jammed and the BD catcher got him out unassisted. For Ballz Deep and the Championship series on the line…now was the time. Jason Falcone singled with one out and was followed by Gene Walczak’s single. The winning runs were now coming to the plate but saw Greg fly out to the short stop. Joe D then singled to load the bases and put the tying and winning runs on the bags but Jacob flew out to left field for the final out.
