B North Playoffs and Season Review

Post by Jmill1734 »

Sorry for the late posts B Northers. Had a baby and moved in the same weekend so it’s been a little crazy over here! Today is the B North Playoffs and season Review and later this week will be the championship write-up which will be WILD.

Season Review:

Bulldogs:
Slugger Mike Suda paced the offense with 2 hrs 15 rbi and a whopping 667 average. His running mate Paul Burtis hammered home 3 hrs 13 RBI and batting 556 in just 5 games. As a team the Bulldogs hammered home 36 doubles, good for 2nd most in the league!

Dark horse:
Paul Ferruzzi was off to an electric start, smacking the ball around to the tune of a 714 average but an injury derailed his MVP caliber effort. Paul Harding (2 hrs) and Ryan schock (1 hr) combined for 24 rbi. All but 3 players had at least 10 hits for their high octane offense!

Dirty dozen
Superstar Sean Taylor paced the offense with 18 runs 24 rbi and 6 triples. Helping his cause Justin Kelly, Skeeter, freshly tanned John Erb, and Kid Kerns crushed 9 hrs combined. Jim Lalley unsung hero, led the team in jokes made, insults taken, good looks, and muscles.

Misfits
Tim Graf had a monster year with a 786 average and 15 rbi on a whopping 20 singles. The devastating duo of Ty Allen and Zack Downs combined for 6 hrs and 38 RBI.
Overall the team batting average of 529 was the best in the division.

One hit wonders
Mike Trivino had nothing trivial about his game as he laced the softball to the tune of a 680 average. Perennial powerhouses
Andy Springer (630 average 16 RBI 2 homers) and Jesse Grasso (2 hrs) did damage all over parts of Bucks and Montgomery county. Overall the Team smoked 11 triples, tied for best in the league

Wire 7-1
That Matt attack of Matt Huhn and Matt Nixon combined for 3 hrs 19 rbi and the top averages for the podcasters. Geno had a tremendous season cranking 7 extra base hits including 3 hrs and 14 RBI. Overall the Team had 25 walks coming in 2nd in the league.

Yankee clips 0-8
Nick Wasekanes and Terry Heller lead the offense combining for 15 rbi and 14 runs
Kai, Rich and Nick paced the hitting with 2 doubles apiece. The whole team was not there often for the Clips, which left the rest of the league lucky because they can score with anyone when they are!

Playoffs:

Game 1: 4v5 One Hit Wonders v Dark Horse

One Hit Wonders come out barnstorming the gates of this playoff game scoring 16 runs over the first 3 innings. Highlights include a 3 RBI triple from Dan Croak, back to back RBI doubles from Mike Trivino and Jesse Grasso and a 2 RBI triple from Rob Gisondi. Dark Horse wasn’t going down easy though as they hammered home 9 runs of their own highlights by a double and homer from Nick “the stick” Mariani, a triple from Jordan Moffitt and three hits from Dave Ketterlinus. Continuing the hit parade the Wonders smacked home 13 more runs over the last 3 innings by way of a ton of singles and doubles from Nick Cordisco, Trivino (2), Jesse Grasso, Bill Graff and Jack Stepnowski. Never throwing in the towel Dark Horse hammered home 7 of their own rubs highlighted by singles walks and a Ryan Schock triple that scored 3.

Final Score: OHW 29 - Dark Horse 16

Game 2: Bulldogs v Dirty Dozen

The Bulldogs got out of the gate like greyhounds as they plate 5 in the top of the first by way of doubles from Mark Sivel, Anthony Bates and Peter Burns. Unfortunately after that sprint, they were not able to muster much else besides scattering 3 runs on singles. The Dirty Dozen started slow but exploded in the 2nd for 9 runs on singles and a three bagger from Justin Kelly. After a 3 run 4th inning on singles they would explode again i. The 5th to the tune of 11 runs with every batter recording a hit and scoring! The team is clearly better without Erb bringing them down.

Final score: DDs 23- Bulldogs 8

Game 3: Wire 2 Wire v One Hit Wonders

The Wonders would take an early 2 run lead as Mike Trivino cranked a homer. Jacob McDevitt cut the lead in half in the bottom half of the inning with a double. The Wonders would explode over the 2nd and 3rd innings scoring 6 on homers from Andy Springer and Jack Stepnowski. Doubles from McDevitt and Matt Wass would plate 3 for W2W and cut the deficit to 7-4. The Wonders would extend their lead to 11-4 in the 5th as big Rob Gisondi cranked a double sparking the rally. Down but never out, W2W went Ballz Deep and plate 5 runs by way of 5 straight walks. The Wonders would extend their lead in the 7th to 12- 8 via singles but it would be the walk once again that would do them in as Ballz Deep would take 6 more slow trots around the bases and Jacob McDevitt would walk it off with a single propelling the podcasters to the championship!

Final Score: Walks to walks 13 - Wonders 12

Game 4: Dirty Dozen v Misfits

The Dirty Dozen smoked the yellow rock early plating 11 runs over the first three innings! Highlights include triples from Jarrett “the Kid” Kerns and and Ross “the boss” Anderson. The Misfits cranked the ball as well hammering home 7 runs jump started by doubles from Pat Brennan and Chris Quinn. They would add 3 more to make it a one run game in the 4th as Pat Brennan once again crushed an RBI two bagger. 4 runs is better then 3 runs and that’s what the DDs did in the 5th as they plate 4 via walks and doubles from Sean “MVP” Taylor and the Kid. The Misfits would not go away though as they would plate 5 over the last 3 innings highlighted by a Chris Quinn triple and a cornucopia of singles. The Dirty Dozen would put this one away in the 7th as they bat around to the tune of 6 runs by way of a Justin Kelly triple and a bunch of walks. Jim Lalley reminded the team that he is still better then Skeeter after a eagle eyed 4 walk game.

Final score: DDs 21 - Misfits 15

The championship write up will be up later this week as Dirty Dozen and Wire 2 Wire battled it out in 3 game sluggers, winner takes all, grudge match of the best of the best in B North
