B North 7/18

Hey all... trying to balance this new dad thing with work and everything else going on. Write-ups will be out every Friday morning moving forward!

On a beautiful Softball Sunday, the rager known as B North, lit up the scoreboard as some teams were as hot as the sun, and others as cool as the breeze when the clouds came around.

Game 1: Wire2Wire v Misfits

Wire2Wire continued to defend their title in style as they clobbered the Misfits 17-2. The Misfits actually started strong in this one as they pushed two across in the first inning by way of 4 singles and a walk, but then cooled off faster than a beer left out on the bench. Wire2Wire meanwhile were an egg on pavement as they fried the defense for 4 runs in the first inning on singles, 6 runs in the 2nd on back to back to back jacks from Greg Guarino, Tom Segura and Jacob McDevitt, 2 runs in the 3rd on singles, and 5 more in the 4th as Segura and McDevitt once again mashed taters.

Final Score: Wire2Wire 17- Misfits 2

Game 2: Wire2Wire v Bulldogs

The champs are looking to be the champ champs as they used stellar defense and a soul crushing offense to defeat a very game Bulldogs team. Wire2Wire lit up the scoreboard for 16 runs in the 2nd game of their double dip, as Tom Segura went 3-3, missing the cycle by only a double because he decided to be a team guy and walked his first at bat. Geno also went 3 for 3 smacking 2 doubles in the game. They could also be called Sac masters as they used the sac fly to plate 4 runs over the course of this battle. The Bulldogs hammed the yellow pill around for a bunch of runs too as John Hogan tripled and scored in the 1st, Jimmy Park doubled in a run and scored in the 2nd, and the dynamite duo of Peter Burns and Spenser Slutsky demolished extra base hits in the 4th inning to help score 4.

Final Score: WIre2Wire 16 - Bulldogs 7

Game 3: Bulldogs v Birdgang

The Dogs got off to a hot start as they plate 4 in the 1st inning on singles and an Anthony Bates double. They would follow that up with a run on singles in the 3rd to add to the lead and throw in a lead expander in the 4th as 2 more runs scored on a Petey Burns double. Coming alive in the 5th inning the Birdmen cut into the 7-2 deficit to take a 8-7 lead scoring 6 runs on singles. They would add to that total by adding 4 runs in the 6th on doubles from James McLaughlin and Anthony Ciliberto and add 2 more in the 7th by way of a Joey Pittmann two bagger. The Bulldogs would add another run late but that would be all for this one.

Final Score: Birds 14 - Dogs 8

Game 4: Birdgang v One Hit Wonders

The Birdgang would put up just enough to squeak by in the nightcap of the morning games. Sweet Swinging James Mclaughin would launch his 2nd and 3rd homers of the day as he finished 3-4 in this one with 4 RBI and 3 Runs scored. He proved to be the better McLaughlin as Jason McLaughlin could only muster a 3 for 4 effort with one homer. Joe Pittman would also outduel his brother as he went 2-3 with a triple. The One Hit Wonders hammered home 4 runs in the 1st on walks and singles. They would add to that total with 5 more runs the rest of the way also via the one bag hit. Andy Springer led the charge as he went 3 for 3 with a sac fly and 3 runs scored. Top of the lineup studs Nick Cordisco and Dave Ketterlinus would also add to the scoring with RBI singles as they finished their days going 2 for 3 respectively.

Final Score: Birdgang 10 - Wonders 9
