Game #1 – Mot-ley Crew vs. Knuckleheads
We get rolling fast in this one as Crew rip off seven runs right out of the gate. CJ Motts, Carl Motts, Evan Porter and Jon Motts smash four straight RBI singles and Jon Duchette nets two runs on a two run triple. Knuckleheads get three runs back on a Jaden Newman RBI double and Steph Farrar RBI single. Bobby Hartzell also has a sac fly in the inning. More of the same for crew in the second as they bat around, this time netting six runs. Carl Motts stayed hot with two more RBI’s in the inning. Crew weren’t happy with their six runs in the second inning so they match it again in the third. Porter this time has the two run single on his third single in as many innings. Knuckleheads must have had some of the Crew’s Gatorade between innings as they explode for 10 runs in the fourth. Jay Cybok had a bases clearing triple in the inning and Jose Rodriguez smashed a grand slam. Unfortunately for Knuckleheads that is all the runs they could muster tonight and fall in this one. Mot-ley Crew wins 26-13
Player of the Game:
Evan Porter (Crew) – 5/5, HR, 7 RBI’s
Game #2 – Knuckleheads vs. Demons
Knuckleheads come out ice cold just like they had finished their first game and only grab two runs off a Rodriguez RBI single and an error. The good thing for them is that Demons match that slow start. Pat Kelly nets Demons a run on an RBI single and they get their other run off an error as well. Demons finally produce again in the fourth with a two run single from Bill Shallcross as well as a sac fly from Jay Pane as they take the three run lead. Knuckleheads get those three runs back in the sixth off three straight singles from Brandon Birkhead, Rodriguez and Newman. Demons take the game back with another Shallcross RBI single and an inning later a Keith Keppley bases loaded walk. This ends up being enough as Knuckleheads can’t push any more runs across. Demons win 7-5.
Player of the Game:
Bill Shallcross (Demons) – 2/3, 3 RBI’s
Game #3 – Sandlot Sluggers vs. Complete Liquidators
Jarret Kerns gets this last game of the night started with a three run bomb to give Sluggers the early 2-0 lead. Liquidators get one run back on a Rich Jacalone RBI single in the bottom of the inning. Sluggers come back in the second for one more run, but really explode in the third when they push across seven runs. Jackie Heim and Jarret Kerns smash 2 run doubles while Tom Koelzer and Noah smash RBI doubles. Ty Allen got into the RBI double party as well later in the inning. Liquidators show their struggles in this one as they cannot get anything going in this one. Curt Hensman helps to win this one early with his late two run double as Sluggers roll in this one. Sluggers win 16-1.
Player of the Game:
Jarret Kerns (Sluggers) – 2/3, 2B, HR, 4 RBI’s
Player of the Week:
Evan Porter (Crew) – 5/5, HR, 7 RBI’s
