Friday Men’s - Sep 10, 2021

Post by JP40 »

Game One: General @ Dirty Dozen
Generally speaking, going scoreless in the opening 6 innings of a game is a bad idea. The Generals cracked the scoring drought in the 7th, posting 3 behind RBIs by Chris Forester and Rich Austin. D12 grabbed 4 in the first, basically putting this one away early. 2 of the 4 came on a Justin O’Brien double. Vinny Anzideo would triple in 2 more in the 4th. D12 defeats the Generals 7-3.

Player of the Game: Vinny Anzideo - D12 - 3 for 3, 1 run scored, 1 RBIs.

Game Two: Cannoneers @ Sons of Pitches
The Cannoneers would only score 14 in the fall opener. Wilson Miller would double in 2 in the top of the first. Shawne Hines would blast 2 homers and Mike Skrzat would cross the plate 3 times. SoP’s would trickle in 4 runs… 1 in four different innings. Tim Glick pounded 3 solo shots.

Player of the Game: Shawn Hines - Cannoneers - 5 for 5 - 2 HRs - 3 runs scored - 2 RBIs

Game Three: Cobra Kai @ Misfits
The Kai struggled out of the gate, only scoring 1 run in the first 3 innings. Fortunately for them, the Misfits only posted 1 run in that time span too. The Kai woke up with a big 4th inning as a series of singles, a few doubles, and a sac fly netted them 7. Going into the 6th, the Kai held a 9-1 lead. But not for long. The 6th opened with a Rob Tomkinson solo, followed by base hits by Cory Gomez and Jay Pane - both would later score to push the lead to 11. The Misfits started the bottom of the 6th with 2 singles and a 3 run shot by John Keifer. 3 more runs would come in after the blast, cutting the lead to 5. The Kai would get 1 in the 7th and head into the final half inning with a 6 run lead. Trevor Rice and Chris Triolo both would touch home, but that was it for the Misfits. Cobra Kai defeats the Misfits, 13-9.

Player of the Game: Shawn Hines (sub) - Cobra Kai - 4 for 4, 1 HR, 3 runs scored, 3 RBIs, 2 doubles.

***Shout out to scorekeeper, Fern. In the words of Billy Joel, "Life is a series of hellos and goodbyes." For now it's goodbye... until next week!
