Welcome back to Softball!

Game #1 – Rock n Rebel vs. Wackers

This seasons gets trolling with an RBI single off the bat of Rob Schuk. A couple of batters later, Emily Kline also knocks in a run a couple of batters later to give them a 2-0 lead. Wackers respond with double that in the bottom of the inning. Lissa Tercha and Nick Piggot knock in runs on RBI hits. Rebel are able to push across two more runs in the second before Wackers explode to the tune of 15 runs. Matt Bookheimer had a two run single and Alex Freeman smashed in two runs on a triple. Dan Vascovi, Mark McLaughlin and Roc Ackers all had RBI’s in the inning as well. Wackers keep the pounding on down the line grabbing three more runs in the third thanks to a bomb off the bat of Vanscovi. Wackers will put this one away with a six run fifth inning with McLaughlin back at it, this time a two run homer. Wackers will win big 29-14.

Game #2 – Carroll’s Jewelers vs. Mott-Ley Crew

Carroll’s get the second game of the year started with an RBI single off the bat of Bryan Bart. CJ Motts responds in the bottom of the inning for Crew with a solo homer to even this game up at one. Crew take the lead in the second with a five spot. Kevin Motts, Jon Duchette both knock in a run with RBI singles and Selina Alicea nets two on a double. Carroll’s are able to respond with five runs across the fourth and fifth inning. Mike Stacely has two RBI singles across the two innings while Bob McClintock also got into the action with an RBI single of his own. Defense owns the remaining part of the game as neither team can muster up any offense as Crew will end up taking this big defensive game on opening day. Crew wins 7-6.

Selina Alicea (Crew) – 1/1, BB, 2B, 2 RBI’s



Game #3 – The Maize vs. Altek

The Maize gets rolling with an opening RB single off the bat of Gary Kleinsmit as well as an RBI triple from Aaron Worthington. Keith Bellinger closes out the scoring with an RBI hit as they take a 4-0 lead. Altek responds with four runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. Nick Catildo had an RBI double along with Kevin Cwikla smashing a RBI single. Adam Volpe also added an RBI single in the inning. Maize take the lead in the second with a Bill Worthington fielder’s choice. The Maize decides to step up their defensive effort as they really close down the scoring from Altek. The Maize heat their bats up again in the fourth and net four more runs. A. Worthington steps up big again, this time with a two run triple, an inning after he smashed a solo homer. A two run double in the fifth will be enough to take this one as A. Worthington efforts along pick apart Altek in this one. The Maize wins 12-6.
