Friday Men’s - April 8, 2022 - Stover

Game One: Dirty Dozen @ Cobra Kai
Both teams were hot out of the wrapper, each scoring runs in each of the first 3 innings. D12 posted 8 in the opening 3 innings. Justin O’Brien scored twice and homered once. Jordan Cook would double twice, score twice, and drive in 3 over this span. The Kai would see 2 deep balls go over the fence, one by Don Squartino and one by Corey Gomez. Jay Pane would double twice in the opening 3 innings. D12 finished with 12 runs, but that wasn’t enough to beat the Kai’s 16.

Player of the Game: Jay Pane, Cobra Kai, 4 for 4, 3 runs, 2 doubles, 5 RBIs.

Game Two: Sons of Pitches @ Misfits
SofP’s struck early with 8 runs in the first two innings. Tim Frei’s 3 run homer along with a series of base hits and walks, put the SofP’s out in front but not for long. The ‘Fits would post 10 in the 5th, featuring an Anthony Crawford 2 run homer. Tim Glick would hit a 3 run bomb of his own for SofP’s in the 6th, helping the total climb to 16. The Misfits would close the gap to 2, but would fall short, 16-14.

Player of the Game: Tim Frei, Sons of Pitches, 3 for 4, 1 HR, 5 RBIs, 3 runs scored.

Game Three: The Generals @ Cannoneers
Generally speaking, jumping out to a 5 run lead in the 1st inning is a good sign of success! Not in this case. The Generals would only get 4 more runs over the next 6 innings, meanwhile, the Cannoneers would stack runs in nearly every inning. The Cannoneers got homers from Shawn Hines, Tom Banes, and Brian Wrigley. The Generals got a nice game from Chris Forester, going 3 for 4 with a 3 run dinger.

Player of the Game: Shawn Hines, Cannoneers, 3 for 4, 1 HR, 2 RBIs, 4 runs scored

***Shout out to scorekeeper, Fern. In the words of Billy Joel, "Life is a series of hellos and goodbyes." For now, it's goodbye... until next week!
