Cifelli Sunoco vs. Purple Cobras

Cifelli went into this one shorthanded, only fielding 9. Through the first three innings, they were unable plate any runs, despite hitting six singles. Purple Cobras scored a quick two in the 1st, via a walk, error, and pair of singles. PC dropped a six piece in the bottom of the 2nd, with three doubles in their first four at bats, including a two RBI double by Robby Villa. Cifelli kept them off the board in the bottom of the 3rd, then got on the board in the top of the 4th thanks to a leadoff double by Toby Coleman, who was promptly knocked in two batters later by a Jaden Jesse single. Cobras get one back in the bottom of the 4th via a Dan Roman double. Down eight runs headed into the top of the 5th, Cifelli’s bats woke up, dropping a six piece of their own with seven singles and a double by Dylan Hildebrandt to cut the lead to two. Cobras get shut out in the 5th, with Corey Larwa striking out looking as the lowlight. Cifelli’s ties things up in the top of the 6th inning with a two-run bomb by Dylan Hildebrandt. Cobras put up a five spot to answer, with a single, three doubles, and two triples by the Roman brothers, Brandon and Dan. A Cody Runner ejection in the same inning made things interesting going into the top of the 7th, but Cobras tightened up defensively, holding Cifelli to a single run by way of a Mike Schoenagle HR. Purple Cobras take this one, 14-10.

Player of the Game: Dylan Hildebrandt. Dylan went 3-4 with a single, double, HR, 2 Rs, and 4 RBI in the losing effort.

Dirt Stars vs. Dave and Confused

We go over to Hatfield for our next three games, where offense is usually king, and the 3-home run rule gets abused by both sides. Dave and Confused gets off to a quick start, plating three in the 1st inning with back-to-back-to-back-to-back singles, a walk, and a John Graves two RBI double to lead things off. Dirt Stars are quiet through the 1st, unable to plate a run. They keep DC off the board in the top of the 2nd, and manage to tie it up at 3 apiece, with a walk, three singles, and an error propelling the offense. DC answers with another three-run inning of their own, with five singles doing the damage. Dirt Stars put up another run in the bottom of the 3rd, via singles and an error, and the bats for both sides went quiet after that. Dave and Confused hold on to this one and win a defensive effort, 6-4.

Player of the Game: In a low scoring game where offense was scarce, John Graves went 2-3 with a single, double, 1 R, and 2 RBIs. His double was the only extra base hit on the day between these two squads.

Palz Tap House vs. Dirt Stars

Dirt Stars gave Jobu some rum before this one started, hoping to wake up the offense and get the bats going. It seemed to work, as they held Palz to one run over the first 3 innings (by way of a Chris Crohkan double), and dropped a six piece through the three. Six singles, two walks, and doubles by Shawn Mackley and Nick Carusso let the charge for Dirt Stars. Palz tied it up in the top of the 4th, with singles, a double, and a Casey Long triple helping close the deficit. Dirt Stars stay quiet through the 4th, and shut out Palz in the top of the 5th. DS takes a 3-run lead at the bottom of the 5th inning, with four singles and a Joe Carpino double leading the charge. Palz get one back in the top of the 6th by way of Casey Long two bagger, and keep DS quiet in the bottom of the inning. Needed 2 to tie, Palz put up 3 runs in the top of the 7th, with six singles getting the offense going. Now down 1, Dirt Stars go single, walk, to get the game winning run on board. Two batters later, Dan Kanan hit a bases clearing double to cap the walk off win for Dirt Stars. The final of this one was 11-10.

Player of the Game: Tough one between Casey Long and Dale Kanan, but I gotta give it to the walk off hero. Kanan went 3-3 with two singles, the game winning double, and two walks in this one.

Yankee Clippers vs. Palz Tap House

Palz came into this one looking to split the doubleheader. They plate four runs in the first 2 innings, with a leadoff triple by Casey Long, singles, walks, and an error. The Yankee Clippers had a grand total of four hits across their first 5 innings with nothing of importance to note. They finally got on the board with a Rob Hoyle single, and a Pat Brennan double to start the 6th inning, but that’s all the offense either team could muster. Palz wins 4-1.

Stud of the Game: Palz’ pitcher. No clue what his name is, but he threw 7 innings, gave up 8 hits, zero walks, and one strikeout in the start.

Dud of the Game: Yankee Clippers’ playlist. There was murmurs that YC had too much Creed on their Sunday playlist and it was removed before the start of this one. Scott Stapp is rolling in his grave after seeing the pathetic display of offense.

Sunday Scaries vs. Philly’s Phinest

Sunday Scaries plates three in the 1st inning with a walk, single, and three doubles powering the offense. Phinest is unable to put up a run in the first two innings, with an even number of walks to strikeouts at 3 apiece. They manage to keep SS off the board in the top of the 2nd, before giving up five runs in the top of the 3rd. Back-to-back solo shots by Colin Kelly and Matt Horn, along with doubles from Bobby Scholly and Andrew Coates lead the way for SS. Phinest gets two back in the bottom of the 3rd via singles. SS answers with two of their own via five singles and a sac fly. Phinest got one more in the bottom of the 4th to cut the deficit to 7. Both teams put up 4 runs in the 5th inning, with a lot of singles, a triple by Pat Deacon, and a double by Billy Aichroth powering both sides. SS plates another 4 in the top of the 6th, via walks and singles, and hold PP off the board. In the top of the 7th, SS bats around and scores a whopping 10 runs with seven singles, two doubles, and triples by Matt Horn and Eric Podrast. Staring down a 22-run comeback, Phinest takes a leadoff walk, and gets a bases clearing triple by Ray “Go Kick” Rocks. He gets knocked in by a John Quartallo single, but that’s all they wrote in this one. Sunday Scaries beat down Philly’s Phinest 28-9.

Player of the Game: Honorable mentions to Collin Kelly and Bobby Scholly, but Matt Horn takes this one. Horn hit for the cycle, going 5-5 with two singles, a double, triple, and HR. He scored two runs and knocked in 3 RBI as well.
