Friday Men’s - April 22, 2022 - Stover

Post by JP40 »

Game One: Misfits @ Generals
Through 6 innings, the Vegas favorites, the Misfits, were dramatically underachieving - posting only 3 runs. In the same span, the Generals tallied 4 runs and were looking at back-to-back wins. But then the Misfits showed up for reals in the 7th, adding 7 runs to their total. 3 of these runs were produced by Trevor Rice’s bases loaded double. Generals go down, 10-5.

Player of the Game: Trevor Rice - Misfits - 3 for 4 - 3 RBIs, 2 runs scored, 1 DBL.

Game Two: Cannoneers @ Cobra Kai
Great defense on both sides kept this game low scoring and close. At the halfway point, the Kai posted 4 runs - 3 of which on a Tyler Gower 3-run dinger. The Cannoneers also had 4 at the midpoint - thanks to a Shawn Hines 2 run homer and a Mike Gallo Hans Solo. Hines would go yard again in the 6th helping post 4 more Cannoneers runs. Not to be undone, the Kai would post 4 in the 7th, tying the game after a Don Squartino long ball. FREE SOFTBALL - we go to the 8th. The Cannoneers get 5 in the 8th, thanks to Dan Powell’s 2 RBI triple. The Kai couldn’t answer, lose 13-8.

Player of the Game: Shawn Hines - Cannoneers - 3 for 4 - 2 HRs, 6 RBIs, 3 runs scored.

Game Three: Sons of Pitches @ Dirty Dozen
This high-scoring affair would feature 2 homers from D12’s Cody Nash. Teammate, Justin O’Brien, was kept in the yard, but would hit 3 singles and score on each of them. SofP’s would see Tim Frei score 4 times and Trevor Harris drive in 5 runs. D12 would hold off the late push by SofP’s - grabbing the win 19-14.

Player of the Game: Cody Nash - D12 - 3 for 4, 2 HRs, 5 RBIs, 2 runs scored.

***Shout out to scorekeeper, Fern. In the words of Billy Joel, "Life is a series of hellos and goodbyes." For now, it's goodbye... until next week!
