Friday Men’s - April 29, 2022 - Stover

Post by JP40 »

Game One: Cobra Kai @ Sons of Pitches
The Kai came out cold, going hitless through 2. In the same span, SofP’s would see their first 4 batters all cross the plate - with RBIs by Tim Frei and Tim Gluck. Gluck would add a 2 run homer later, scoring himself and Frei. The Kai would warm up the 2nd time through the lineup. In the 3rd, Sam Plaugher singled, Jay Pane walked, and Jake Haber singled - driving in both Plaugher and Pane. In the 7th, the Kai would see 7 more runs get tallied. Don Squartino hit a 2 run bomb, Pane drove in 2 with a triple, and Tyler Gower would go yard, driving in 2 more. Kai wins, 17-9.

Player of the Game: Jay Pane - Cobra Kai - 3 for 4, 1 BB, 1 DBL, 1 TRP, 4 RBIs, 2 runs scored.

Game Two: Generals @ Dirty Dozen
Generally speaking, 7 innings of gameplay should net more than 3 runs in slowpitch softball. But not tonight! The Generals would see Dylan Patterson and Scott Colemen score in the 2nd and then would go scoreless until the 7th when Cryan Walton would cross the plate. D12 would hit the HR limit by the 4th. Jordan Cook, Joe Murray, and Justin O’Brien would all hit long balls. D12 cruises, 15-3.

Player of the Game: Chris Hackney - D12 - 3 for 4, 3 runs scored, 2 RBIs, 1 DBL.

Game Three: Misfits @ Cannoneers
In the primetime spot, the Misfits laid an egg, scoring only 6 runs vs the high-powered Cannoneers. JB Jordan would 2 score 2 of those. The Cannoneers would score 7 in the first, enough to win outright. But they weren’t done yet. 14 more would be tallied, surprisingly without any HRs. Brian Wrigley scored 3 times on the night, as did Jake Engleman. This one was over early, Cannoneers win 21- 6.

Player of the Game: Jake Engleman - Cannoneers - 4 for 5 - 3 runs scored, 4 RBIs, 1 DBL, 1 TRP.

***Shout out to scorekeeper, Fern. In the words of Billy Joel, "Life is a series of hellos and goodbyes." For now, it's goodbye... until next week!
