Finals - King's Corner vs Dookie Brewster

Post by blouderback »

The Spring 2022 Tuesday Men's Finals has top seeded Dookie Brewster vs. 3rd seed King's Corner in a best of 3 series.

Game 1:
King's Corner is slow to start and doesn't score until the 3rd inning, where they plate 6. Bill Brancato's double leads the way, along with 7 singles and a walk from the rest of the team. On the other side of the page, Dookie Brewster scores 5 in the first 3 innings, with Jon Poore smashing a 3 run homer in the 1st, Tom Koezler adding a 2 run shot in the 3rd, and Jose "Mo" Rodriguez chipping in with a double. Score is tight after 3, 6-5 favor of King's Corner. In the 4th, Kings Corner adds 2 more to their lead, but Dookie Brewster opens the floodgates and scores 7 to take the lead in the bottom of the 4th. Rodriguez's grand slam does most of the damage. In the 5th, King's Corner makes it close by adding 3 on Sean "Nonny" Nonemacher's double, Justin Miller's sac fly, and a few singles from the rest. Dookie Brewster will add 2 more in the 5th with Ryan Goodman legging out a triple, Bryan Peterman's double, and Jimmy Craig's sac fly. After 5, it's 14-11 Dookie Brewster. Kings Corner adds 3 in the last 2 innings, on Russell Miller's triple, but Dookie Brewster scores 3 more in the 6th on Martin's solo shot and triple from Koezler and Jason McLaughlin, along with Poore's sac fly. Dookie Brewster takes game 1, 17-14.

Game 2:
Dookie Brewster scores 2 in the 1st 2 innings on Tom Koezler's sac fly and Ryan Goodman's solo homer. Meanwhile, King's Corner plates 5 in the 1st, and 11 in the 2nd to take a commanding 16-2 lead after 2. TWO doubles from Justin Miller and homers from Keith Crowell and CJ Snyder along with a sac fly from Snyder lead the way. In the 3rd, Dookie Brewster scores 3 on Zach Martin's 2 run homer and Jason McLaughlin's double. King's Corner goes down in order in the 3rd. Dookie Brewster makes it a little tighter by scoring 10 in the 4th and 5th, led by triples from Martin and Mo Rodriguez, along with a 2 run blast by Goodman, his 2nd of the game. Kings Corner answers back with 3 runs in the 4th all from Matt Schaub's 3 run blast. Dookie Brewster plays some good D and holds King's Corner scoreless the rest of the game. Unfortunately, Dookie Brewster can only score 3 more in the last 2 innings, despite Martin's 2 RBI triple, and they fall short by 1 run. King's Corner takes game two, 19-18.

Rubber Match:
Game 3 starts out slow. In the 1st 4 innings, King's Corner scores 3 on some boring singles and Justin Miller's 2-RBI double. Dookie Brewster scores 1 in the first 3 innings, also on some boring singles and an error. In the 4th, Dookie Brewster finds their bats and scores 5, with Jason McLaughlin's double and back-to-back homers from Tom Koezler and Jon Poore. The 5th has King's Corner tying up the game by scoring 3 led by Frank Fusca's RBI triple. Dookie Brewster busts up the tie on Zach Martin's 2-run blast. After 5, the Dookie Brewster leads 9-6. King's Corner cuts the lead to 1 in the 6th, but Dookie Brewster plates 2 in the bottom of the 6th. Going into the "TOP.....OF....THE....7TH!" (in my best Nancy voice...), the score is 11-8, led by home team Dookie Brewster. King's Corner take the lead 14-11 in the top of the 7th, on (count 'em) SIX walks. In the bottom of the 7th, Mo leads off with a double and scores on Jon Poore's single, and then Dookie Brewster walk it off on Ryan Goodman's 3 run blast. Dookie Brewster wins 15-14 in dramatic fashion!

Congrats to Tuesday Men's Spring Champion, Dookie Brewster!
