Game #1 – Wehrung’s vs. Knuckleheads

This championship series gets rolling with a sac fly off the bat of Alex Poniktera to give them the early 1-0 lead. Knuckleheads respond in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single from John Kiefer as they tie this game up. Bobby Snyder and Emily Grim give Wehrung’s the lead again with back to back singles before a Doug Moninghoff sac fly pushes their lead up to 4-1. Luke Hendricks gets into the action with a two run bomb in the third inning to make this a 6-1 game. Knucklheads lock down and come out firing with a nice third inning getting three runs on a three run bomb off the bat of John Poore. Wehrung’s quickly answer again with a seven run lead as they lead 13-4 now. Snyder knocked in two on a triple and Hendricks smashed another bomb, this time a three run bomb. Poore and Kiefer do their best to keep their team in it, with back to back two run single and two run homers, but Wehrung’s were too much in game one and take a 1-0 lead in the series. Wehrung’s win 15-10.

Player of the Game:
Luke Hendricks (Wehrung’s) – 4/4, 3 HR’s, 7 RBI’s

Game #2 – Knuckleheads vs. Wehrung’s

Knuckleheads come out firing looking to get back into the series with a game 2 victory and grab two runs on a Poore two run bomb. Wehrung’s respond with one run on a Lowell Snyder RBI single. Jesse Fowler gets into the action with a two run bomb of his own as they increase their lead to 4-1. The home run party continues for Knuckleheads as Collin Radcliffe now smashes a solo bomb and the Knuckleheads lead increases to 6-1. Wehrung’s continue to go cold at the plate and continue to put up zeros in the runs department until the seventh. Knuckleheads keep the pressure on with three more runs in the fifth on a Steph Farrar RBI double and Tom Newell RBI single. Luke Hendricks supplies some late runs for Wehrung’s on a two run bomb, his fourth homer on the day, but Wehrung’s will fall in game two and we will head to a do or die game 3 for the B Championship. Knuckleheads win 13-3.

Player of the Game:
John Poore (Knuckleheads) – 3/4, HR, 3 RBI’s

Game #3 – Wehrung’s vs. Knuckleheads

Knuckleheads strike first in this big final game with six runs right out of the gate. Poore smashes a two run bomb, which is followed up a couple batters later by a three run bomb off the bat of Jesse Fowler. Knuckleheads quickly jump up to a 6-0 lead. They increase that again in the second, with four more runs. Poore added two runs on a two run double, while Fowler and Calvin Radcliffe add runs on an RBI single. Wehrung’s are letting this series slip away as Knuckleheads put another five runs across in the third. Fowler was back at it with a three run bomb. Wehrung’s show some life in the fourth with a Luke Hendricks grand slam, but that is all they can push across. Hendricks would add another solo bomb in the seventh, but five runs is all that Wehrung’s would be able to muster up in this one. Knuckleheads will win the last game comfortable as they will hosit the trophy in this one. Congrats to Knuckleheads as they win 17-5.

Player of the Game:
Jon Poore (Knuckleheads) – 5/5, 2B, HR, 6 RBI’s
