Post by JP40 »

Game One: Cobra Kai @ Dirty Dozen
Game one would prove to be a nail bitter as these teams were evenly matched. The Kai would get an MVP performance from Sam Plaugher (5 for 5, 2 HRs, 6 RBIs, 5 runs scored). D12’s Justin O’Brien would lead the Dozen going 4 for 5, 2 HRs, 7 RBIs, and 3 runs scored. But in the 7th, D12 found themselves down 14 - 11. Jon Myzall led of with a homer. O’Brien hit a 2-run shot. And the Cody Nash would hit a walkoff RBI single to grab the opening bout.

Player of the Game: Justin O’Brien - D12 - 4 for 5, 2 HRs, 7 RBIs, and 3 runs scored

Game Two: Dirty Dozen @ Cobra Kai
The Kai entered game 2 with defensive adjustments that would payoff. D12 would be held to 10 runs - and the Kai would see nearly every team member cross the plate. Homers from Cory Gomez and Sam Plaugher helped tally 16 runs and grab game two.

Player of the Game: Sam Plaugher - Cobra Kai - 2 for4, 1 HR - 2 runs scored, 4 RBIs, 1 TPL

Game Three: Cobra Kai @ D
In the deciding game three, it’s fitting this one would go down to the wire. It would open with Jay Pane walk followed by a Sam Plaugher homer (his 4th of the night). In the 3rd and 4th innings, the Kai would strike up 9 more runs via a series of singles and a Jake Haber 2-run homer. Through 4, D12 would post 6 runs, led by Chris Hackney and Justin O’Brien each scoring twice. O’Brien would strike again in the 5th with another long ball over the fence. Going into the 7th, D12 led by 4 (19 - 15), but the Kai’s top of the order was coming to the plate. Pane singled, the next two Kai members flew out. Tyler Gower doubled, scoring Pane. Mike Fischer singled, scoring Gower. The Kai couldn’t muster any more offense - D12 wins 19 - 17 and are now the Friday night men’s softball champions of the world.

Player of the Game: Justin O’Brien - Dirty Dozen - 4 for 4, 4 RBIs, 4 runs scored, 1 HR, 1 DBL

***Shout out to scorekeeper, Fern. In the words of Billy Joel, "Life is a series of hellos and goodbyes." For now, it's goodbye... until next week!
