B East Summer Opener 7/10/2022

Post by ntodd71 »

With the summer season starting, the B East is doing its best college football impression, with a massive shakeup. Purple Cobras and Sunday Scaries have been promoted to B North, Cifelli Sunoco is on double secret probation, and the Yankee Clippers are off boozing and enjoying hot girl summer. The three new teams tasked with replacing them The Swingers (led by Lucas Burke) demoted from the B North, Wolfpack (led by Colin Leach), and Dugout Demons (led by Christian Wagner), promoted from B West.

Dave and Confused vs. Swingers

Swingers couldn’t field a full team for this one. Dave and Confused gets their first W of the summer via forfeit, 7-0.

Wolfpack vs. Dirt Stars

Like the Swingers, Dirt Stars were only able to field half the needed players. Wolfpack win their B East debut, 7-0.

Dugout Demons vs. Palz Tap House

The B East runners up, Palz Tap House, are looking to dominate the division with Purple Cobras and Sunday Scaries no longer standing in their way. Newcomer Dugout Demons look to make waves by taking out one of B East’s finest. Dugout Demons start out hot, with back-to-back-to-back-to-back singles, a sac fly, and another single by Nate “Don’t Call Me Nathan” Gregory, to plate 3 in the top of the 1st. Palz manages 1 in the bottom of the 1st with two walks and an RBI single by Bob Jacob. Both the Demons and Palz blank the 2nd inning, Demons put up another 2 in the top of the 3rd thanks to a 2 run BOMBSKI by John Wagner. Palz get 2 more of their own off of a 2 RBI sac fly from Brett Broderick. Demons go quiet in the 4th, while Palz scores 4 more to take a 7-5 lead. Back-to-Back HRs by Tom Jacob (3 run bomb) and Alex Freeman (solo shot) did the damage. Both teams go scoreless in the 5th inning, but the bats wake up in a big way for both squads in the 6th. Dugout Demons drops a 7 spot and bats around. Four doubles, three singles, a walk, and an error paced the offense. Palz sees their 7 runs, and raises them 3 more, putting up 10 runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. Five singles, three doubles, two walks, an error, and a sac fly propelled Palz offense. The game was called for time, and Dugout Demons didn’t get a chance in the 7th. Palz take this one in a 6th inning slugfest, 17-12.

Player of the Game: Tom Jacob, Palz. Jacob crushed the ball for Palz in the victory, going 4-5 with two singles, a double, HR, 3 RBI and 4 Rs.

Philly’s Phinest vs. Palz Tap House

In a rematch from spring playoffs, Philly’s Phinest came into the opener looking for revenge. Phinest plates 1 in the top of the 1st inning, courtesy of a Tonny Summer RBI ground out. Palz scores two of their own off of three singles, a walk, and a sac fly by Alex Freeman. Neither team can score in the 2nd, and Phinest goes down in order after a leadoff single from John Quartullo to start the 3rd. Palz scores 4 in the bottom of the inning, due in part to four singles, a double, walk, and sac fly. In the top of the 4th, Mike Rocks Jr. blasts a solo HR to plate another run for Philly’s Phinest. In the bottom of the 4th, Tom Jacob one upped Jr, by crushing a grand slam for Palz. Phinest went scoreless in the bottom of the 5th, and Palz dropped a 7 piece to finish the game. Six singles, two sac flies, a double, walk, and two run HR by Alex Freeman put the pin in this one. Palz run rules Philly’s Phinest 17-2.

Player of the Game: Tom Jacob, Palz. Jacob had another solid game, going 3-3 with two singles, a grand slam, and a sac fly. In addition to the 5 RBIs, he also scored two Rs.
