Friday Men’s - July 15, 2022

Game One: Generals @ Moxon’s Cartel
Generally speaking, seeing only 1 run cross the plate in a game won’t be enough to win most slowpitch games. John Muniz would be the sole scorer for the Generals tonight. The Cartel saw leadoff batter, Abe Brooks, strike out to open the game… but his teammates picked him up. Doubles by Jon Motts, Franie Fusca, and Chris Lansberry helped the Cartel to tally 7 in the inning. Brooks would leadoff the 2nd innging too, but this time he’d double and later score. Jon Motts had a day with 2 homers. 5 Cartel members would all score 3 runs each: Brooks, J. Motts, CJ Motts, Jay Pane, and Fusca.

Player of the Game: Jon Motts - Moxon’s Cartel, 4 for 4, 2 HRs, 6 RBIs, 3 runs scored, 2B.

Game Two: Misfits @ Cobra Kai
The Misfits would strike early, scoring 5 in the first. Tim Caldwell would drive in 2 on his double, and score himself 1 batter later. The Kai answered with 2 in the bottom of the inning. This game would not boast many runs, but it was a tight game throughout. The Misfits would get Caldwell for the 2nd time and Jose Rodriguez would triple and later cross the plate - to get them to 7 total runs. The Kai would find some rhythm in the 5th, as Donnie Squartino, Ethan Shoemaker, Rob Tomkinson, and Bobby Lillo would each earn a base hit and score. The Kai squeaks out this one, 8 - 7.

Player of the Game: Ethan Shoemaker - Cobra Kai - 4 for 4, 2B, 1 RBI, 1 run scored.

Game Three: Sons of Pitches @ Dirty Dozen
SofP’s only rallied 6 players tonight. 3 subs were used, and an automatic out was applied. This would be costly for SofP’s. Tim Glick’s 2-run homer along with Tim Frie’s solo shot helped gather 9 runs on the night. D12 started very slowly - going scoreless through 3 innings. In the 4th, Joe Murray and Kevin Carver would each score. In the 5th, walks by Ken Gerges and Fran Buckwalter - and singles by Andrew Werkheiser and Vinny Anzideo help push 6 runs across. This set the table for an Arik Fenton walk-off single in the 7th - driving in Kevin Carver to win it 10-9.

Player of the Game: Andrew Alexander - D12, 2 for 3, BB, 2B, 3 RBIs.

***Shout out to scorekeeper, Fern. In the words of Billy Joel, "Life is a series of hellos and goodbyes." For now, it's goodbye... until next week!
