Friday Men’s - July 22, 2022

Post by JP40 »

Game One: Cannoneers @ Misfits
The Misfits would get wonderful nights from Randy Helsman, Jose Rodriguez, and John Kiefer. They’d post 14 runs - featuring long balls from Rodriguez and 2 from Kiefer. The Cannoneers were on one Friday night - as they’d collect 31 total runs. Josh Kennedy was on base all 7 times he came to the plate, scoring 5 times. Shawn Hines homered twice (actually 4 times, 2 were after the team hit the limit), and Jake Engleman hit a grand slam.

Player of the Game: whoever retrieved the HR balls during game… & Josh Kennedy.

Game Two: Cobra Kai @ Generals
Generally speaking, scoring 14 times in one game should be enough to win most games. Not tonight though. The Generals tallied 10 runs in the first inning! Chris Forester homered, Dylan Patterson drove in 2 on a triple, and the team tallied 6 doubles in the inning. The Kai sputtered until the 4th, when they posted 9. Ethan Shoemaker’s 2 RBI double led the way. In the 7th inning, the Kai drove in Shoemaker and Donnie Squartino, pushing their total to 16, and grabbing the dub.

Player of the Game: Chris Forester - Generals - 5 for 5, 2 HRs, 5 RBIs, 4 runs scored, 2 2Bs.

Game Three: Dirty Dozen @ Sons of Pitches
D12 came out hot, posting 5 in the first. Chris Hackney tripled, and then doubles followed by Andrew Alexander, Kevin Carver, Anythony Izzi, and Arik Fenton. Then the offense would dry up for D12, trickling in only a few more runs over the course of the rest of the game. SofP’s went scoreless early, but eventually found a rhythm. The story of the night was Tim Gluck. He’d single in the 1st and fly out in the 5th. His other 3 at bats were all homers: a solo, a 2-run, and a 3-run. D12 couldn't stop Tim Gluck, and they couldn’t even contain him. SofP’s win 15 - 10. Gluck scored 3 runs and drove in 6.

Player of the Game: Tim Gluck - Sons of Pitches, 4 for 5, 3 HRs, 6 RBIs, 3 runs scored.

***Shout out to scorekeeper, Fern. In the words of Billy Joel, "Life is a series of hellos and goodbyes." For now, it's goodbye... until next week!
