B North catch-up

Post by Jmill1734 »

First off I want to offer a sincere apology for the late articles. I was away for two weeks for vacation and have been catching up on life. The articles will be out every Wednesday moving forward. With that in mind, I decided to do a catch up article and do something different that I would typically ever do. Hope you enjoy!

Wire 2 Wire

Week 1 vs. Purple Cobras - The podcasters started off hot, scoring 6 quick runs to get the season started as Joe Dimezza got the party started with a triple and Justin Glennon iced the scoring cake with a double. They would add 2 more runs in the 2nd inning via singles. A game breaking bat around in the 3rd inning saw a ton of singles, a double from preppy Sean Butrica and a triple from Alex Metz push across 8 huge runs. Singles would once again be the weapon of choice in the 4th inning as they hammer home two more runs and they would cap their scoring in this one with a solo ding dong from Jacob McDevitt and a double from el Capitan” Gene plating 3.

Week 1 v Sunday Scaries - The podcasters once again started with a bang as they plate 3 runs in the bottom of the first by way of a big Tom Signore homer and triple from Gene which had to travel further than Tom’s ball if he made it to third. They would add to their total in the 3rd inning as Greg “the one high socked man” Guarino smoked a double helping the boys plate 3 more runs. SIngles would be the icing on the cake as they would help score 3 additional runs in the 6th and 7th innings to cap off the victory.

Week 2 v ATHNN - The boys in white and blue had a tough time getting a lot going in this one. They would score 4 runs early on a triple from big Tom Signore, but they rest of the game they are only able to manage 3 more runs by way of singles in the 3rd inning and a Preppy Sean Butrica double in the 4th.

Week 3 v Docs Irish Pub - Wire 2 Wire went off in the 1st inning slamming home 7 runs, highlighted by doubles from Big Tom Signore and Preppy Sean Butrica. After some weird quiet innings, the podcasters would get on the board again in the 5th as Big Tom smacked a solo homer. Not to be outdone, Seanny B smacked his 2nd double of the game and scored in the 6th inning. Singles, walks and Jacob McDevitt coming up huge would walk it off for the podcasters as they plate 2 runs in the 7th to secure victory.

Week 4 v One Hit Wonders - The podcasters found a formula to score and used it over and over and over again. They would single and sac fly their way to 13 runs over 7 innings with the only deviation being a Big Tom Signore double in the 2nd inning. Joe Dimezza and Jacob McDevitt would combine to go 7 for 7 with 7 combined singles to lead the way.

Week 4 v Purple Cobras - Singles and walks would plate 2 for the boys in white and blue in the 1st. Walks, singles and a monster triple from Joe Dimezza sparked a bat around in the 2nd inning which would see 9 runs scored. THey would add two more runs in the 3rd inning as Geno lasered a 2 RBI double. Big Tom Signore refused to leave this game without an extra base hit so he destroyed a triple and scored in the 5th. Singles would end scoring for the podcaster in the 6th inning as they plate another run to ice the scoring cake.

Purple Cobras

Week 1 v Wire2Wire - The boys in purple would have a tough time getting out of the starting gates in this one. They would plate their first run of the session in the 3rd inning as Corey Larwa would single and score on a triple from Brandon Roman. A fielders choice would push across another run in the 4th inning and 3 straight singles would score another in the 5th but the book mysteriously cuts off after that so who knows if they made a heroic rally or fell short.

Week 2 v ATHNN - The Purple Cobras struck first scoring 3 runs in the top of the 1st on singles. They would add to their total in the 2nd as Manny Rodriguez smoked a double and Cody Runner cranked a dinger. Singles from the middle of the order would plate another run in the 3rd. They would have a tough time plating many more in this one though as they are only able to muster a single run in each of the 6th, 7th, and 8th innings all by way of errors and singles.

Week 2 v Sunday Scaries - Walks and a Mike Corrigan double got the boys in purple in the scoring column early as they scored 4 in the first. After a slow next two innings, the Cobras would explode in the 4th batting around to the rune of 7 runs as both Mike and Pete Corrigan crushed extra base hits to lead the onslaught. Cody “he’s a Runner hes a track star” would triple and score in the 6th to cap scoring for the Cobras.

Week 3 v One Hit Wonders - The Cobras would use singles to plate 3 and knot the score in the bottom of the first. Apparently the Cobras will take anyone as they allowed Ty Allen to play and his 2 run homer in the 3rd sparked a 5 run inning. Doubles from Brandon and Jordan Roman combined with a Pete Corrigan triple would plate 5 more in the 4th. Danny Roman and Ty Allen would go back to back in the 5th, plating 3 runs in the inning and they would argue about who’s ball went further the rest of the afternoon.

Week 4 v Wire2Wire - Singles and a double from Brendan Roman opened up scoring in the 2nd for the Cobras as they plate 4. Singles would also be the weapon of choice in the 3rd and 5th innings as they are able to push across a run in each inning one base at a time. Sweet Swingin Pete Corrigan would double and score for the Cobras in the 6th to top off their scoring tank in this one.

Sunday Scaries

Week 1 v Wire2Wire - The Scaries were terrifying in the top of the 1st, plating 4 runs by way of doubles from Josh Pershing and Dave McCaughey. That hot start cooled quickly though as they were unable to get much going again until the 7th inning when they would push across 3 more runs, highlighted by a double from Bobby Scholly and four singles.

Week 2 v Purple Cobras - The Scaries were horrifying AF as they crushed the ball all game long. Colin Kelly led the game off with a solo blast and they would plate 3 total runs in the first. Singles and a triple from Pat “the bat” Deacon would push across 4 more runs in the 2nd. A Solo shot from Josh Persing continued the scoring in the 3rd. Five singles would keep it going in the 4th as 2 more runs scored for the Scaries. Staying stupid hot, the boys would plate 6 more in the 5th highlighted by a triple from Kris Karaba and another homer, this time from Bobby Scholly. A Matt Hoen triple would push two more runs across in the 6th and the scorekeeper's hand fell off from coloring in runs so they called the game due to time.

Week 2 v Docs Irish Pub - Softball is a weird game. After being unstoppable in game 1 of their double header, the Scaries were exhausted and couldn't get anything going. They would get a run in the 4th inning on singles and another run two innings later as Eric Poprest tripled and scored but that was it for this one, in a super weird turn of events.

Week 3 v One Hit Wonders - Kris Karaba got the party started early as he doubled in a run and scored in the top of the 1st. Solo homers from Tommy Thorton and Josh Pershing would each count a run over the next two innings. After a few quiet innings. Rico Jones would crush an RBI triple and score in the 6th to cap scoring for the day.

Week 4 v ATHNN - The Scaries started hot using singles and sac flies to count 3 runs in the 1st. They exploded again in the 3rd with singles and a Kris Karaba double plating 4 runs. After a few scoreless innings we would head to the 7th tied at 7. Colin Kelly did his job as a leadoff getting on base and Josh Perhing hammered a triple to score him and walk it off! He was carried off the field and handed many beers for his efforts.

ATHNN

Week 1 v One Hit Wonders - The team of letters would open their scoring in the summer scoring a run on singles in the top of the 1st. They would add 5 more runs in the 3rd inning as Zach “ya gotta get up to get” Downs smoked a 3 runs homer and Tim Graf doubled. A double from “big baby” Glen Davis would push across another run in the 4th but that would be all they could get going in this one.

Week 2 v Wire2Wire - The lettermen exploded in the beginning of this game, plating 8 runs in the first off of singles and a Kevin Mclaughlin homer. They would use the one base at a time via singles approach to push across 5 more runs in the 2nd. They would go quiet for a little while but cap their scoring in the 6th inning with two big runs via a Tim Graf double to give them enough breathing room to cruise to a win.

Week 2 v Purple Cobras - The letterman looked to continue their hot hitting as they score 3 runs in the 2nd inning by way of Chris Quinn double. 3 more runs came in the 3rd as sweet swingin Tim Graf smoked a triple plating 2 runs and scored himself one batter later. The game turned into the Timmy G show as he once again would triple in a run and score in the 6th inning. No one would score in the 7th so we headed to the 8th where the special runner would score on a sac fly to end the game in a tie.

Week 3 v Docs - Eric Tidwell came up huge in the 1st as he launched a homer to spark a 4 run inning. A two-bagger from Dan Cripps paved the way for a 3 run 3rd for the letterman. They would go crooked again in the 4th and 5th innings plating 5 runs in that span with singles. After a solid few innings, ATHNN blew the top off the game as they bat around in the 6th scoring, scoring 8 runs on a butt load of singles and a double from Pat Brennan.

Week 4 v Sunday Scaries - Dan Cripps led off the game with a double and scored on a single 2 batters later. After a weird few innings, walks and a sac fly would plate another in the 4th for the ATHNN boys. Singles and walks would also be the weapons of choice in the 5th and 6th innings as 3 more runs are scored using that tried and true method. In the 7th, crafty veteran Walt Zolna would smoke a double and score to cap scoring for this one.

Week 4 v Docs Irish Pub - Hot hitting leadoff Dan Cripps once again started the game with an extra base hit as he tripled and scored, helping ATHNN to a 2 run first. Walks and singles would plate 2 more runs in the 2nd. Singles and a Kevin McLaughlin double helped score 2 more runs in the 4th as well. Walks, singles and a Jeff Castelli three-bagger would plate 5 for the lettermen in the 5th paving the way to another good offensive game for ATHNN.

One Hit Wonders

Week 1 v ATHNN - A combination of the Wonders and the Dark Horses proved to be a winning formula as they hammer home 5 runs in the 1st highlighted by a triple from Paul Ferruzzi Jr. and a double from Jack Stepnowski. They would annihilate the yellow pill again in the 2nd inning, plating 11 runs by way of a Jason Hammer homer, a triple from Jimmy Cooker, a double from Jesse Grasso and a ton of singles. They got the scoring machine fired up again in the 4th inning as they would plate another run on back to back doubles from Jason Hammer and Mike Harrington and 5 more in the 5th to finish the job with singles.

Week 1 v Docs - Pauly softball got scoring going in the 1st as Ferruzzi doubles and scores. SIngles would plate 2 more runs in the 3rd and Bill Groff would walk and score for the Wonder Horses. They would go on to push across 5 runs in the 5th highlighted by a Pauly softball triple and 5 more runs in the 6th as singles and another Ferruzzi extra base hit did the damage.

Week 3 v Sunday Scaries - Jesse Grasso got the boys going with a triple to start the game and the Dark Wonders score 3 in the 1st. Four more runs would cross in the 2nd as Paully Softball crushed a grand salami. Following that up, the Dark Wonders would bat around in the 3rd, scoring 8 runs, highlighted by a CC Witt triple and another Grand Slam by Jimmy “pressure” Cooker. Walks, singles, and a solo homer from CC Witt would help the One Hit Horses close this one out in fashion.

Week 3 v Purple Cobras - The Dark Wonders got going early again as Rob Gisondi would plate 2 with a double and score himself. They would push across another run in the 3rd on singles and walks. In the 5th, the boys would explode for 5 runs on singles and a triple from Jason “the slammer” Hammer. Unfortunately, that would be all they could muster in this one.

Week 4 v Wire2Wire - After an atypically slow start the Dark Wonders got on the board in the 3rd inning as former Dark Horses Paul Ferruzzi and Bill Jones smacked doubles, leading to 4 runs. Jesse Grasso would lead off the 5th with a single and score to plate another run. Capping their scoring for the morning was a Dave Ketterlinus leadoff double in the 6th that also turned into a run.

Docs

Week 1 v One Hit Wonders - After a slow start the pub goers would bat around in the 6th inning on a ton of singles and a double from heavy hitting Dylan Brooks. Joe Giampietro made more noise in the 7th inning as he doubled in two runs but that would be all they were able to get going in this one.

Week 2 v Sunday Scaries - Docs started a little slow but exploded in the 3rd inning for 3 runs as walks and singles scored 3. When something works you try it again, and the Pub goers would use the walk and single approach again in the 5th to plate 4 more runs and give them a nice cushion, which would prove to be enough in this defensive battle

Week 3 v ATHNN - Softball is a game of runs, and this one had wild swings in it. The Irish pub boys hammered home 6 runs in the 2nd, highlighted by a solo homer from Dylan Brooks and a 3 run bomb from Ausitn Kooker. Doubles from Brooks and Josh Kesczyk plated two more runs in the 3rd. A LOT of walks and another double from Brooks would see Docs bat around and score 8 in the 4th. After seeing the bats go semi-quiet the Pubbers would make a thrilling comeback in the 6th, plating 3 runs on a double from Brendan Kesczyk but they unfortunately would come up a run short of playing extras due to the time limit.

Week 3 v Wire2Wire- Paul Elliot owes beer as he K’s to start the game but Josh Kesczyk picked up the slack and homered to give Docs an early lead. Josh K would continue to tear the cover off the ball as he doubles in two and scores in the 2nd inning as well. Singles would push across a run in the 3rd and a double from the hardest hitting last hitter in a lineup Austin Kooker plated another in the 6th, Still en fuego, Josh Kesczyk smashed another homer in the 7th for the Pub boys.

Week 4 v ATHNN - That mean man named Dylan Brooks struck again in the top of the 1st hammering a 2 run homer. Singles and a key error would plate 3 more runs in the 2nd. After a silent 3rd, Josh Keszczyk smoked a double, leading to a 3 run inning. They would follow up that onslaught with 3 more runs in the 5th on singles as well to cap their scoring in this one.
