B North 8/14 and playoff preview

Post by Jmill1734 »

B North 8/14
Game 1: Purple Cobras v Docs Irish Pub

The boys in purple had a tough time getting things going in this one as they are not able to get the offense fired up until the 4th inning where they plate a run on singles. Following that up, sweet swinging outfielder continued the rally as he doubled in a run and scored in the 5th. Sometimes the other team likes to give you runs to keep you interested and that’s exactly what happened in the 6th as errors help plate 2 more. Everyone knows Rome wasn’t built in a day but the Roman brothers tried to build a huge rally in the 7th as Brandon and Danny Roman crushed back to back triples and left handed dynamo Ty Allen crushed a homer paving the way for a 6 run inning.
Docs also did not get much going in this one until the 4th inning but their 4th inning was an explosion which saw 9 runs score in a bat around of mostly singles and a Dylan Brooks exclamation point as he crushed a grand slam. They would not get much going besides this rally though as their only other run came in the 6th inning as bad Mr Brooks smoked a double and scored.

Final score: Purple Cobras 12 - Docs 10

Game 2: Sunday Scaries v Purple Cobras

The Scaries got moving and grooving in the 3rd inning as they plate 3 runs by way of a Matt Horn double. Another run would sneak across in the 5th on singles. Don’t sleep on little Tommy Thornton as he smoked his 2nd double of the game in the 7th inning, paving the way to two more much needed runs.
The glow-Bo-gym got going early as they stole a run on a sac fly. They would continue to peck away in this one as they would plate a run in each of the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th innings on singles and a Brandon Roman double. Still using the Pennies method, the cobras would single in a run and get a walk off sac fly from fly ball king Ty Allen to secure the win!

Final Score: Cobras 7- Scaries 6

Game 3: Wire2Wire v One Hit Wonders

Left handed super slugger Tom Signore got the party started in the 2nd inning as he doubled and scored. They would bat around adding 5 in the 3rd as Adrian Reyes and Jacob McDevitt would do the double dance. A double from Alex Metz and a big Tom homer would light up the scoring column once again in the 4th adding 4 more runs. A host of singles and another Metz double would cap scoring for the day for the podcasters as they plate 5 in the 6th but hit the time limit and didn’t get a last at bat.
The Wonderful Wonders hit the ground running as they plate 5 runs in the first on singles and a Jaime Tyler double. Jimmy “Pressure” Cooker did damage in the 3rd as he launched a homer helping score 4 more runs. CC Witt and Andy Springer joined the dinger club in the 4th as CC smack a solo and Andy a three run bomb playing 5. A run on singles was scored in the 5th and in a weird rally where they didn’t let a team finish an inning (?!) the Wonders would score 4 more on singles and a Bill Groff double to lock up the victory.

Final Score: Wonders 19- Podcasters 16

Game 4- ATHNN v One Hit Wonders

The wonders got off to a much slower start in this one as they are only able to muster 3 runs over the first 3 innings on singles and errors. They would break out in the 6th inning though as veteran duo Rob Gisondi and Dave Ketterlinus poked back to back doubles to ignite the offense and help score 5 runs.
The Midday heat also affected ATHNN as they could not get much going in this one either. Powerhouse Eric Tidwell took the lid off the basket in the 4th inning as he doubled and scored. Unfortunately that was all that the letterman could get going as they could only muster 2 more runs on singles the rest of this one.

Final Score: Wonders 9 - ATHNN 3

Playoff Preview!

1 seed: Wire 2 Wire - the defending champs of the North secured the one seed with a 6-2 record, good looks and slightly better defense than the Wonders. Big Tom Signore leads the pesky offense as they will try to defend their title.

2 seed vs 3 seed - One Hit Wonders v ATHNN - in a rematch of the last game of the regular season, it shows why both teams treated it like a preseason game and didn’t open up their offense. Two high powered offenses will square off so expect a high scoring affair to get into the chip. Cagey veteran Walt Zolna led the Letterman as he smoked the ball all over the field to the tune of a .704 average with 10 RBI and he will try to out slug a Wonder(ful) lineup which saw 4 players have over 15 RBI and 7 players score atleast 10 runs.

4 seed - 5 seed: Purple Cobras v Docs - in the only semi-final play-in game, lower division champs the Purple Cobras will look to take on a hard nosed Docs Irish Pub in another rematch of a game from this past week. Left handed deep fly ball specialist Ty Allen leads the Cobras in HR, RBI, and Runs and will look to be a huge factor for the boys in purple while the dynamic duo of Austin Kooker and Dylan Brooks will look to match Ty swing for swing as the pummel the yellow pill all over the field. Winner of this game get the defending champs Wire2Wire.
