Swingers vs. Philly’s Phinest

Quiet start for the Swingers as they go down 1-2-3 in the 1st and 2nd innings, before leaving two stranded on the base paths in the 3rd. Phinest plates 4 in the first 3 innings off of five singles, a double, and 2 run HR by Billy Aichroth. Swingers get back into it in the 4th, scoring 3 off of a HR by Aiden Coyle. Phinest score 2 more off of a Rob Adams HR to extend the lead to 6-3. Back-to-back doubles by Alex Vitek and David Kretchman plate 1 for Swingers in the top of the 5th, while Phinest goes down scoreless in the bottom of the frame. Two walks, a single, sac fly, and a 2 RBI double by Brian Close get Swingers 3 more runs to take a 1 run lead in the top of the 6th. Phinest go down again without mustering a run. With a chance to add some insurance runs in the top of the 7th, the Swingers go K, ejection, K, to stall their momentum. Phinest get two men on with two outs in the bottom of the 7th, but a flyout ends the game. Swingers eek out a 7-6 victory.

Player of the Game: Aiden Coyle, Swingers. Coyle did just enough to swing the momentum in the favor of the Swingers, going 2-3 with a 3-R HR, single, and two Rs.



Palz Tap House vs. Philly’s Phinest

Palz and Phinest both knock in 3 runs apiece in the 1st inning. Three singles, two walks, and an RBI double by Chris Crookham do the damage for Palz, while Phinest hit three singles and a 2 RBI triple by Chris Rommal. Palz scores 1 in the top of the 2nd off of an Alex Freeman double, and Phinest opens up scoring with a 6 spot in the bottom of the inning. Four singles, a sac fly, and another 2 RBI triple by Chris Rommal give Phinest the 9-4 lead early. Palz scores another one off of a fielder's choice in the top of the 3rd, while Phinest fail to score a run with the bases loaded in the bottom half of the inning. Palz drop a 5 spot in the top of the 4th as they bat around. Small ball was the name of the game, as five singles and two walks propelled the offense. Phinest take the lead right back, scoring 2 of their own in the bottom of the 4th. A leadoff triple by Steve Walker and RBI singles by Mike Rocks Jr and Billy Aichroth put them back on top. Palz scores 1 more off of a double from Jordan Cohen and an RBI triple by Alex Freeman. Phinest go down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 5th. Palz scores another 3 runs off of five singles to take the lead going into the bottom of the 6th, where Phinest go down in order again. In the top of the 7th, Palz takes a leadoff walk, and follows it up with three fly outs to give Phinest a chance to walk it off in the bottom of the 7th. Phinest load the bases up with two outs, but they cannot rally as Sean Dunn hits into a fielder's choice to end the game. Palz take this one, 14-11.

Player of the Game: Alex Freeman, Palz. Freeman had a solid outing on the day, going 4-4 with two singles, a double, triple, and a walk. He also had 2 RBI and 1 R.



Dirt Stars vs. Dugout Demons

Both squads came into this one winless. Dirt Stars score 4 runs in the first 4 innings, with a 2-R HR and RBI double by Joe ‘Magic’ Carp, and an RBI triple from Bob McHugh doing the damage. Dugout Demons could only muster 1 in the first 3 innings, coming in the 2nd inning via two doubles and a Robert Knoll RBI triple. Both offenses kicked it into higher gear starting in the bottom of the 4th for Dugout Demons, where they dropped a 10 spot, while batting around. Nine singles, doubles by Ryan Lynn and Jimmy Raskos, a walk, and a sac fly provided the offense for Dugout Demons. Not wanting to be showed up, Dirt Stars respond with a 9-run inning in the top of the 5th to retake the lead. Six singles, a walk, a sac fly, and three doubles by Nick Caruso, Shawn Mackley, and ‘Consider Me’ Myles Davis, got the momentum swung back in favor of Dirt Stars. Dugout Demons score 1 more off of singles from John Wagner and Alex Hoffman to cut the lead to 1. Dirt Stars put up 3 more in the top of the 6th inning, courtesy of two singles, two walks, and two doubles, one each by Dan ‘the Man’ Curran, and Joe ‘Magic’ Carp. Needing 4 to tie and 5 to win, Dugout Demons start the innings with a K and a flyout. With their backs against the wall, Dugout Demons decide they won’t go quietly into that goodnight, and go single, walk, single, HR (by Nate Gregory), single, single, single (Matt Cartwright) to walk it off and get their first win of the season in a nailbiter, 17-16 final.

Player of the Game: Joe ‘Magic’ Carp, Dirt Stars. The Magic Man was magic at the plate, going 4-5 with a single, two doubles, and a 2 run HR. Carp finished with 5 RBI and three Rs in the loss.



Dave and Confused vs. Wolfpack

Neither team can score a run in the top of the 1st inning. Dave and Confused plate 2 in the top of the 2nd off of three singles, a double by Will Moyer, and a sac fly. Wolfpack responds with 5 of their own in the bottom of the inning. Three singles, a walk, sac fly, double by Harry Horn, and a 2 run HR by Kenny Goodwin do the damage, as they bat around. Both teams go scoreless in the 3rd, and Dave and Confused drop a 5 spot of their own in the top of the 4th inning. Three singles, two walks, a sac fly, and a 2 RBI triple by Will Moyer spark the offense for Dave and Confused. Wolfpack respond by plating 3 more in the bottom of the inning. A walk, single, sac fly, and back-to-back doubles by Brendan ‘the Real’ McCoy and Mike Bartasavich got the lead back for Wolfpack. Dave and Confused take it back in the top of the 5th, scoring two runs via two singles, a John Graves double, and a fielders’ choice. Wolfpack cannot muster a run in the bottom of the inning, and they keep Dave and Confused scoreless to start the top of the 6th. In the bottom, Wolfpack score 4 to take the lead, with two singles, and doubles by Anthony Perretti, Colin Leach, and Matt “Sure Jan” Brady. Down 3 in the top of the 7th, Dave and confused get a leadoff double from ‘Mean’ Mark McKinney, but leave him stranded. Wolfpack win a close one, 12-9.

Player of the Game: ‘Mean’ Mark McKinney, Dave and Confused. Mckinney went perfect at the plate, going 4-4 with two singles and two doubles in the loss. He also scored 3 Rs.
