Game #1 – Wackers vs. Carroll’s

Wackers get rolling for in the first game of the year with a Bill Brancato and Frank Fusca back to back RBI singles. Jess Frelick knocks in a sac fly a couple of batters later to give Wackers the 4-0 lead early. Carroll’s get five back and take the lead in the bottom of the inning. Greg Lesher, Bryan Bart and Adam Roman all have RBI singles in the inning. Wackers will take that lead back in the second, on a two run single from Phil Lipton. Wackers continue to hit well in this opening day game and add another five runs in the third inning. Dennis D’Angelo started the scoring with a two run double while Jack DeMouth had a two run bomb to round out the inning. Carroll’s start to slow down and can only muster up a couple of runs the rest of the game. Frelick puts this game away with an insurance RBI triple late in the game as they will win this one easy. Wackers win 14-7.

Game #2 – Pocos vs. Knuckleheads

Pocos get rolling with a Mike Tkach RBI single before Knuckleheads step up and crush the ball in the first inning. Mike Koezler immediately matches that run with an RBI single of his own. Steph Farrar gives them the lead with an RBI single of her own, before John Schofield clears the bases with a single. Knuckleheads get back to it in the second inning with six more runs. Farrar this time smashes a three run bomb, while Jimmy Craig, John Kiefer and Jamie Burns all add runs on singles. Pocos get a couple runs back on a Will Marsden RBI single and Mike Tkach RBI single, but Knuckleheads continue to dominate at the plate in this one. Kiefer and Schofield get back to it with back to back two run singles driving their lead up to 16-3. Kiefer smashes a two run bomb late in the game as Knuckleheads will run away in this game. Knuckleheads win 22-7.

Game #3 – Wehrung’s vs. Hattricks

Luke Hendricks gets this seasons started for Wehrung’s in a big way, smashing a three run bomb as they take the early lead. Hattricks will come out slow in this one as they look to shake off the dust of the offseason. They can only muster up one run across the first three innings of play. Wehrung’s will get one more run on a Bobby Snyder double and an error. Hattricks will start to fight back in the next couple innings as they muster up one run in each the fourth and fifth and then three runs in the sixth. Paul Hensler, Erik Stalford, Eric Rosenblum and Stephanie Green all had RBI singles. Wehrung’s now trailing by one, steps up to yet again take the lead. Bobby Snyder was at it this time smashing a three run bomb, but Kyle Hendricks also added a run on an RBI double. This proved to be too much as they will hold off Hattricks. Wehrung’s win 12-7.

Game #4 – Altek vs. Quality Landscaping

The last game of the night gets rolling with a four run inning from Altek. Adam Volpe starts the scoring with a two run triple, while Chris Lento added another run on a double. Quality will get three runs back on a Patrick Smith RBI single and Tom Connell RBI single. A two run single, yet again, pushes Altek back into the lead. The third inning was a big statement inning for Altek, as they will bat around and push 14 runs across the plate. Cataldi had a two run double and Tony Luizza had a two run single, following by RBI singles from Bobby Vine, Scott Flaherty and Mike Maglio. Maglio also added a two run single his second time through the lineup. Quality does get five runs back in the fourth, but this game gets out of hand too quickly and Altek will win this one easy. Altek wins 24-9.
