Week 10: Hatfield Playoffs 5/31/2023

Game 1: American League 5 seed Mayhem vs. 4 seed Tap Daddys
Mayhem opens up with 5 runs in the 1st. Derrick Strowhauer doubles in 2 of those runs and scores as well. Tap Daddys go down in order in the 1st and score 1 in the 2nd. They add another 1 run in the 3rd, while Mayhem adds 2 in their half of the 3rd. After 3, its' a 7-2 game in favor of Mayhem. In the 5th, Tom Hayes leads off with a solo homer to make the game 8-2. No one scores after that until the bottom of the 6th. In the bottom of the 6th, Tap Daddys get 3 on with 1 out. John Scott and Andrew Gernert both double. With 2 outs and down 3, Tap Daddys get 3 on and Cooper Rusiak smacks a 2 run double to come within 1 run of taking the lead. Kyle Mauger steps up to the plate and bangs out a solid single, scoring Rosiak and Mike Culbreath to take a 1 run lead. Mayhem goes down in order in the top of the 7th, and Tap Daddys hang on for the win, 9-8.

Game 2: National League 5 seed Doc's Irish Pub vs. 4th seed Muckdogs
Docs take a nice lead in the top of the 1st by scoring 5 runs on a slew of singles. Muckdogs answer with 3 in the 1st, with Ari Silverstein homering and Tony Cabot doubling. Docs add 5 more in the 2nd, with Denny Lord smacking a grand slam over the fence. In the 3rd, Muckdogs make it a 3 run game when Bill Brancato blasts a grand salami over the fence. Docs widen the lead in the 4th, scoring 4 on doubles from Denny Lord and Clay Snyder. They'll add another 3 in the 5th when Dylan Brooks blasts a 3-run shot over the fence. In the top of the 6th, Docs makes the score 22-7 by plating 5 runs. Brian Mogel doubles. In the bottom of 6, Silverstein blasts another homer, scoring 2. Both teams are quiet in the 7th, and this game ends in a Doc's Irish Pub win, 22-9.

Game 3: National League 3 seed Wasted Talent vs. 5th seed Doc's Irish Pub
Docs get a 2-run double from Brett Keszczyk in the top of the 1st, and then go on to bat around in the 2nd and score 10. Joe Keszczyk doubles. They'll add 1 more in the top of the 3rd when Chase Luxton doubles and scores on Dylan Brooks RBI double. Meanwhile, batting and fielding just 8 players and taking an out at the end of their order, Wasted Talent gets just 1 run in the 1st 3 innings when Ryan Choate blasts a solo shot in the 3rd.After Clay Snyder doubles in the top of the 4th for Docs, Josh Keszczyk blasts a 2-run homer to make the score 15-1. Wasted Talent adds 2 in the bottom of the 4th on 4 singles and a Matt Schwartz sac fly. Dylan Brooks makes it a 17-3 game in the top of the 5th with a 2-run homer over the fence. Docs will add another 10 runs by batting around in the top of the 6th. Brian Mogel leads off the inning with a solo shot, and then Matt Fronheiser knocks in 2 with a double, followed by 3 singles and a base clearing triple from Mogel. Josh Keszczyk also gets 2 hits in the inning, including a double. Needing a bunch of runs to keep this game going, Wasted Talen can only muster 1 run run in the bottom of the 6th. This game ends early with a Doc's Irish Pub win and trip to the Championship Series, 27-4.
