Friday Men’s - June 2, 2023

Game One: Dirty Dozen @ Balls Deep
6 runs. Yes, just 6 total runs would be scored in game one of the postseason. Let’s call this a true “Pitcher’s Duel.” D12 would watch Arik Fenton drive in Pete Abary for the team’s only run of the playoff opener. Balls Deep would score 5 on the night. Only 2 players would earn RBIs - Tim Frei and Keith Bauer. Both hit 1 homerun, accounting for all 5 runs. D12 goes home, and Balls Deep stays and draws the #1 seed: The Cannoneers, later in the night.

Game Two: Cobra Kai @ The Yard
The Kai posts 4 runs in the first and another 4 in the 2nd. Included in that barrage was a Jake Haber grand slam. The Yard held off the Kai the rest of the way - relinquishing zero runs the rest of the way. It was 8-8 heading into the bottom of the 6th, and the Yard opened the inning with a John Kiefer single, followed by a JB Jordan homer. This would be the game-winner - pushing the Yard onto the finals.

Game Three: Balls Deep @ Cannoneers
Balls Deep found themselves deep in the hole as they opened up with only 1 run. They’d give up 7 to the reigning, defending champs. Brian Wrigley would hit a first inning 3-run bomb, as would Jake Engleman. Dan Powell would literally one-up his teammates with his 2nd inning grand slam. This one would only last 4 innings, with the Cannoneers posting a 20 - 4 victory.

***Shout out to scorekeeper, Fern. In the words of S. Carter, “A wise man told me don't argue with fools. Cause people from a distance can't tell who is who.”
