B east week 1

Post by KING29 »

First up for Sunday men’s B East division -

Pitch Please vs Balls deep.

Balls Deep started off promising plating 6 runs in the first. Tim Gluck was showing off his off season conditioning program with 2 doubles and a triple on the day. Unfortunately the bats went cold after that and Balls Deep only managed 4 runs the rest of the way. Pitch Please on the other hand hit early and often. Mike Oravitz and Joe Weeks paced the team with 2 singles each in the first inning alone as they send 9 across home plate. They added two more in the second, 6 in the third, then opened up the floodgates with 10 in the fourth to shut this one down early. Pitch Please amasses 30 hits to take this one convincingly, 27-10.

Wild Fire v Web Gems

Leadoff hitter John Aiken tried to get his team going right from the start with a double to open the game on his way to a 3/4 day. This one was a defensive battle throughout as Web Gems would manage 7 runs. Wild Fire would also send 9 men to the plate in the first inning but only manage 2 runs as the defense was ramped up on both sides. A scurry of singles throughout the game would help Wild Fire scratch this one out, 9-7.

Bomb Squad v Holding Hands with Hookers

Patience at the plate and timely hits for Holding Hands with Hookers allowed them to pile up 15 runs in their opening game. Brandon Getty paced the team with a 4/4 day at the plate. They made the pitcher work all day as they compiled 12 walks drawn as a team. Bomb Squad was true to their name as Casey Condron, Anthony Crawford, Christian Mendez, and Ryan McCabe all reached base 4 times a piece. Bomb squad matches the early offensive output from Holding Hands with Hookers and edges them 19-15.

Swingers v Philly’s Phinest

Philly’s Phinest strikes first in the bottom of the first inning opening the game with 4 runs on 6 straight hits. 5 more hits in the second had Philly up 7-2 after 2. Swingers broke the bats out in the third inning, plating 6 thanks to doubles by Matt Close, Chris Clewell, and Lucas Burke. They’d scatter 8 hits thru the rest of the game after that offensive surge to win this one 13-8.
