Game #1 – Poco’s vs. Wackers

Wackers come out and take advantage of a slow Poco’s start. Bill Brancato will knock in two runs on a sac fly after Nonny and Jarret Kerns really get moving to net them too. RBI singles will pace Wackers in the second getting them from Dan Vescovi and Dennis De’Angelo. An Alex Freeman RBI single in the third gives Wackers a 6-0 lead before Poco’s will finally get into the game. Ryan Hamilton will bring in a run on an error and Jeff Hess rolls in two on a single to make this a 6-5 game. A Ryan Hamilton sac fly in the fourth will tie this game up. Defense highlights the inning in the fifth, where I’m sure Nonny is out there diving somewhere, even though he probably doesn’t need to. Wacker’s smell a little smelling salts and break open the sixth. Brancato starts the scoring with a two run triple followed by a Freeman RBI double. Another triple rolls in, this time from Tess Frelick. Vescovi will round out the inning with a two run double and giving them a 14-6 lead. Poco’s grab a late run, but that is all they can get today. Wackers win 14-7.

Player of the Game:
Bill Brancato (Wackers) – 2/2, 2B, 3B, 4 RBI’s

Game #2 – Knuckleheads vs. Maize

Knuckleheads strike first with a run on an error after Steph Farrar gets on with a single. No action will come again until the third, when Farrar is back up and knocks in two runs on a single. Jon Poore, a couple of batters later, then knocks in two with a double. John Kiefer keeps it rolling for Knuckleheads in the fourth with two runs on a single as their defense continues to shut down Maize. Maize finally gets on the board in the fifth with a single from Keith Bellinger. Unfortunately for Maize, Knuckleheads keep pouring on the runs. Jesse Faller will net them two more runs on a single, while Mike Cebzanov gets into the action with an RBI single. Maize will fall hard in this one. Knuckleheads win 17-3.

Player of the Game:
John Kiefer (Knuckleheads) – 3/4, 3 RBI’s

Game #3 – Altek vs. Mott-Ley Crew

Our third game gets started with a two run single off the bat of Kevin Cwikla. Bob Wenner then knocks in a run on a fielder’s choice. Crew get one run back in the bottom of the inning on a sac fly from Brady Mengel. Altek grabs one more run in the second on a sac fly from Brandon Smith. Crew will tie the game up in the second on a Carly Levin RBI walk and Justin Ruth fielder’s choice. Crew will take the lead in the third, getting three more runs. Brady Mengel knocks in two runs on a double and Anthony Rapposelli knocks in a run on a single. An inning goes by, but Crew get back to the scoring in the fifth. Carly Levin, Justin Ruth and Ally Motts hit 3 straight singles to get four runs across. Jon Motts also smashes a two run bomb in the inning. Crew continue to lock it down defensively and add some late inning insurance runs on a Mengel two run bomb. Crew win 17-9.

Player of the Game:
Jon Motts (Crew) – 3B, HR, 2 RBI’s

Game #4 – Eddies vs. The Runs

Eddies come out strong grabbing an RBI single from Brian Dart and then 3 more runs on some errors that prove to be costly for Runs. Runs will get their first run in the second on a fielder’s choice from Bobby Ridenour. Eddie’s get shut down in the second, but come back strong in the third and fourth innings, putting up a total of eight runs. Brian Sauers and Mark Smith had RBI singles, while Dart knocked in two with a triple. Dart is back at it again in the fifth, with another two run triple. Sauers also stays in the action getting an RBI single. In the end, it’s too much Eddies as they will roll in this one and take it. Kyle Exner grabs an RBI double in the loss, while Bobby Ridenour smashes two bombs. Eddies win 18-9.

Player of the Game:
Brian Dart (Eddies) – 4/5, 3 3B’s, 5 RBI’s
