B East Fall Final
Stiff Sox V Pitch Please


Game One
Pitch Please is the away team in the first game and starts off our championship matchup. They go down 1-2-3 in the first and Stiff Sox gets their first chance at offense. Anthony Crespo leads it off with a single and then Nick Purshock doubles him in for the first run of the series. Kurt Krout doubles as well, scoring Nick. Tim Hilferty then knocks Kurt in with an RBI single. Stiff Sox takes the lead after 1, 3-0.
In the second, Pitch Please starts with Adam Schulang reaching on an error, followed by Dan Altemus with a single and then Steve Walsh knocks Adam Schulang in with an RBI single. Stiff Sox gets two on with singles from Jimmy Templeton and Tyler Fornwalt, but can't muster any runs. After 2, Stiff Sox leads 3-1.
Pitch Please gets a double from Mike Sheridan in the third, but can't capitalize with two fly outs. Stiff Sox goes 1-2-3 and the third goes quickly with the same 3-1 lead held by Stiff Sox.
Pitch Please gets a one out double from Adam Schulang, Dan Altemus moves him over with a single, and Steve Walsh brings him in with a sac fly. Bill Larkin follows with an RBI double to score Dan Altemus and then Tedge Lee gets a single to continue the inning. Mark Stauffer knocks Bill Larkin and Pitch Please scores 3 to take the lead. The lead doesn’t last long though, as Nick Purshock starts with a double, Kurt Krout doubles and replaces Nick at second, scoring him. Atonio Almedia reaches on a fielder's choice and Kurt Krout scores and Matthew Brady reaches on a single. Jimmy Templeton has a huge 2 out double to score both Almedia and Brady and Stiff Sox wins the inning, holding a 7-4 lead.
The top of the 5th sees Pitch Please get a single from Zavh Malloy and Joe Kindt to put two runners on. With two outs, Dan Altemus gets an rbi single to score Malloy but the inning ends on a Fielder’s Choice with two runners on. Stiff Sox is held to a 1-2-3 inning but still holds a 7-5 lead.
The 6th sees Pitch Please go down in order and Stiff Sox takes that opportunity to extend the lead. Anthony Crespo doubles and then Chris Sanchez reaches on an error and Anthony Crespo scores. Nick Purshock doubles and scores Chris Sanchez and then Jeff Rodriguez reaches on a fielder’s choice but Nick Purshock scores on the play. Antonio Alemedia knocks Jeff Rodriguez in with a double and then Tim Hilferty scores on Mathew Brady’s routine groundout. Stiff Sox scores 5 to extend the lead to 12-5.
The top of the seventh sees only a single from Zach Malloy and Stiff Sox take game one.

Stiff Sox wins 12-5 and leads 1-0 in the series.

Game Two
Stiff Sox swap and start the game as the visitors. Chris Sanchez reaches on an error and Nick Purshock immediately capitalizes on the error with a two run Home Run. Kurt Krout follows it with a double and Tim Hilferty knocks him in with a single. Pitch Please doesn’t let that stop them, and they come out with a single from Mike Sheridan, Joe Kindt draws a walk. Adam Schulang knocks Mike Sheridan in with a sac fly and then Dan Altamus scores Joe Kindt on a single. After 1, Stiff Sox leads 3-2.
The second sees Stiff Sox score one, when Tyler Fornwalt hits a double but then scores on a throwing error. Jose Sanchez singles but then Pitch Please turns a big double play to get out of the inning before more damage is done. Ray Brittingham does what he can to keep Pitch Please in it with a solo shot, but we end the second with Stiff Sox still up one, 4-3.
Stiff Sox gets two singles in a row from Jim Kullmann and Anthony Crespo to start the 3rd but can't capitalize on what could have been a big inning and go 1-2-3 with their 2-3-4 hitters. Pitch Please has a chance to take the lead and gets a one out single from Adam Schulang and then a two out single from Mark Schaffer, but with two runners on they can't capitalize and the third is scoreless, with Stiff Sox still holding a 4-3 lead.
The fourth is quiet again for Stiff Sox, with singles from Tim Hilferty and Antonio Almedia. Pitch Please can't take advantage again and go 1-2-3. Stiff Sox continues to hold at 4-3.
The fifth sees Stiff Sox start off with a single from Tyler Fornwalt Jose Sanchez gets a single and Tyler Fornwalt gets to third. Alex DeChristifano hits a deep fly ball that looks to score Tyler Fornwalt, but left field throws a rope right on the dot and Fornwalt is thrown out at the plate as he slides head first, or at least I like to think that’s how it went. Jim Kullmann gets a single and scores Jose Sanchez and Anthony Crespo singles as well before Chris Sanchez grounds into a fielder's choice. Pitch Please doesn’t seem to want to let the game get too far away, and Joe Kindt leads off with a solo home run. Dan Altamus singles and Mark Schaffer follows with a single, but Bill Larkin shoots a hard ground ball to the first baseman, that scores at least one if it gets through, but solid defense from Stiff Sox saves the lead and we end the 5th with a Stiff Sox lead, 5-4.
Stiff Sox leads the top of the sixth off with a double from Nick Purshock and Tim Hilferty knocks him in with an RBI single. Pitch Please can’t muster a run, going 1-2-3, and Stiff Sox cushions the lead, 6-4.
The seventh starts with a Matthew Brady single, followed by a Jimmy Templeton single. Tyler Fornwalt scores Brady on a single and it looks like Stiff Sox is going to break it open. Jose Sanchez hits a rocket to short and stellar defense allows for a huge double play and Pitch Please avoids a bad inning to give themselves a chance. Mike Sheridan starts off with a single to try to save Pitch Please’s season. Joe Kindt flies out to deep left center and Steve Walsh strikes out on a dirty pitch. Adam Schulang comes up with a runner on and two outs, but a flyout to short ends the game, the season, and the year for Sunday Morning Men’s East.

Stiff Sox wins 7-4, and the Championship in a 2-0 sweep.
