Playoffs - Hatfield

Game #1 – Altek vs. Hattricks

Altek was all over this game as they start off slow, but end up doubling up on Hattrick’s in this one. The final score is 15-8 Altek as they move on to the next round to face Mott-Ley Crew. Brandon Smith leads the way for Altek making a big postseason debut with two three run bombs. Adam Volpe also jumped aboard the homer train as he smashed a three run bomb in the game. Scott Flaherty was just a homer short of the cycle from Altek, logging two triples as well. Stefano Giuiliani collected three hits and two RBI’s in the losing effort. Hattricks had a big second inning with six runs, but was shut down the rest of the game. Hattricks goes into the postseason after a .500 season and making the postseason.

Game #2 – Wehrung’s vs. Eddie’s

The second game of the night was not as much a slugfest as they prior game as both teams struggle for runs at times. A spot in the championship is on the line and Wehrung’s are going to come out on top with a 9-4 win. Dave Nagle was a sparkplug for Wehrung’s going 3 for 3 with two doubles and three RBI’s. Wyatt Schilling added two runs on a second inning bomb deep into the woods. Eddies had been shut down until third getting a three run bomb from Brian Dart. That are the only runs they would get in this one and going into the offseason after a productive season.

Game #3 – Altek vs. Mott-Ley Crew

The last spot in the championship is up for grabs as Altek takes on the Crew as they have showed up late on this cold night. Altek will come out fast in this one as they grab a big lead early and don’t look back, taking this and heading to the championship with a 10-5 lead. Kevin Cwikla was the MVP for Altek in this one grabbing three hits and three RBI’s including a big two run bomb in the second inning. Altek let their defense after the first two innings. For Crew, they got a sudden spark in the fourth on a Tom Finn two run single, but not much else in this one. They may be disappointed heading into the offseason, but they have to look back and see all the success they did have this season.

Playoffs – Quarry

Game #1 – The Runs vs. Wehrung’s

The Runs were playing with 9 and an automatic out, but put up one heck of a fight. In the end, Wehrung’s would be too much for them as they win this one 18-14. Bobby Snyder led the way for Wehrung’s grabbing a three run bomb along with two singles. Adam Hendricks also collects three RBI’s on a single and a double for Wehrung’s. For the Runs, Rebecca Brennan collected three hits, while Matt Kovaleski added five runs on three hits, just a homer shy of the cycle. Eric Cusano had a two run homer for the Runs as well. They did all they could to win a game down one and taking an auto out.

Game #2 – Carroll’s vs. Knuckleheads

The second game of the night will go straight to the championship so a lot at stake for both Carroll’s and Knuckleheads. Knuckleheads will end up on top and take this game by a final of 8-6. Knuckleheads get a big performance from Rich Zupkusky with two hits, a two run double and a single. Jose Rodriguez also had two big hits, knocking in two runs. Carroll’s faught hard coming up just short in this one. Steve DiGiovanni and Mike Stacey had two hits while Bob McClintock collected two RBI’s in the inning. Knuckleheads move on to play the winner of the next game in the championship next week.

Game #3 – Poco’s vs. Wackers

Last game of the night is a shootout between Poco’s and Wackers. Wackers will end up outslugging Poco’s in this one as they win the game 16-12. Doubles Nonny was at it again, collected two doubles in the win while Alex Freeman collected two RBI’s on three hits. Bill Brancato also added 4 RBI’s on two singles and a sac fly. Jay Pane didn’t want to be outdone and chipped in for three RBI’s on three singles. Roger Ayala and Bill Hamill both collected three hits and two RBI’s in the losing effort while Brett Anker reached base all four times collecting an RBI in the losing efford. Great season by Poco’s and good luck to Wackers in the Championship next week.
