Apologies on the delay here. Had to get a new laptop. Will have the rest of the articles up within the next day.


Game #1 – Poco’s vs. Sultan’s

Poco’s get rolling early with a massive nine run second inning. Tyler Stone gets the party started with an RBI single followed by a bases clearing single from Brenda Burns. Brett Anker, then steps up with an RBI single of his own followed by a two run single from Eric Schade. Poco’s will grab one more run in the third on a Brielle Eve hit. Sultan’s will struggle in this opening game as they can’t push any runs across. Poco’s will finish this game early with a six run fourth before flip flopping. Kris Eve lead the scoring in the inning with a grand slam. Poco’s make easy work of Sultan’s and win 16-0.

Game #2 – Altek vs. Domenick’s

The second game of the night gets started with a five run first inning from Altek, getting RBI singles from Brandon Smith, Chris Lento, Bob Wenner and Scott Flaherty. Domenick’s answer back with three runs of their own, grabbing a run on a Dan Mudoon RBI single and two runs on a Paul Hensler single. Here Altek come again, this time batting around and scoring seven runs. Casey Marohn had a two run single, Lento and Wenner had RBI doubles and Smith smashes a two run bomb. Domenick’s will get one run back, but struggle over the next couple of innings. Altek will add one run over the next couple of innings, which sends us to the fifth where Altek grab three more runs. Marohn brings in two with a double. Domenick’s will get five runs in the bottom of the inning, with two coming from a Bob Kolecki single and another on a Janice Tansits single. Altek will really put this one away getting six runs in the sixth. Luizza and Marohn both add two RBI’s in the inning as they will take this game. Altek wins 22-9.

Game #3 – Altek vs. Mott-ley Crew

The last game of the night gets started with Altek swinging the stick again. Kevin Cwikla smashes a two-run bomb and Wenner will add a run on a double as they take a 3-0 lead. Crew will respond in the bottom of the inning with an error and an Anthony Rapposelli RBI single to cut the deficit to within one. Crew will take the lead in the second getting two runs on a Justin Ruth single. Crew will add on another five runs in the third with a two run double from Ian Kacergis and then a two run moonshot from Jon Motts. Altek will have their big inning in the fourth getting six runs. Mahron and Cwikla both had RBI singles while Brandon Smith added the big shot with a grand slam. Back and forth we go for the next couple of innings each grabbing seven runs across the fifth and sixth innings. Cwikla highlighted Altek with a three run bomb, while Jon Motts lead the way with three RBI’s on Crew side. To the seventh we go looking for a hero on opening night. Unfortunately, both teams go down in order as this game will end in a TIE.
